Description
“5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Thunderbirds are go!”
Ah, one of the many shows that I grew up watching that made me oblivious to the fact… that each episode were 50 minutes long. How was I that patient as a kid?
Set in the distant future of 2065, Earth is in an era of peace and it’s safety is entrusted to the organisation called International Rescue. Led by Jeff Tracy, they protect humanity from the international criminal known only as The Hood.
Thunderbirds, despite the long runtime and repetitive plot, is honestly pretty damn good and still holds up as a kid’s show. While we did get Captain Scarlet and Stingray, it was Thunderbirds that got my interest since, as a kid, it was pretty cool seeing The Tracy Family use their aircraft to save as many lives as they could. Hell, Thunderbird 2 was the first toy that I owned when I was hooked on the show and it’s still my favourite out of The Thunderbirds.
Like Captain Scarlet, it also got a CGI reboot and, as far as I can remember, it was just as good as the old show and lasted three seasons. Thunderbirds also got a live action movie but… nobody really talks about it so I’m applying the same mindset since the only thing that I honestly remember about that movie was the song performed by Busted and it was directed by Johnathan Frakes. Yes, THAT Johnathan Frakes.
Back to the classic puppet show, Thunderbirds is a good show to just sit back, relax, and watch if you’re in the mood for some guys saving lives in their flying machines.
