Me as the Marionette,YES i like the marionette that much x)
So i made that mask in a week, bought the buttons and painted them white, and stitched elastic wrap stuff together for around my legs and arms. that way i wouldn't need to stitch it to my legging, bought a scarf cut a hole in that for my head, and put the buttons on that. Also bought a winter mask thingy so my head would be black.
It was very fun there, and this was the first normal cosplay i did (previous was the grudge, wich no one recognised) and photo's were asked
Fun day!And i met a friend from my friends, with who i will go with to Dutch Comic Con, as they are going as the 4 animatronic gang <3

Hi there, so my 10 yr old daughter is going to do this for Halloween...I was wondering if the mask wasΒ paper mache? No sure if we will have time for that seeing Halloween is vast approaching. Do you mind providing actual instructions on the mask? or perhaps giving your opinion on if I were to use a generic mask which can be found at craft stores and just painting it? Please and thanks

Yes paper mache, and i did it in a week. My base was just a piece of cardboard cut out to fit around my head a bit, then plastic around it and paper mache. Of course you can use the cardboard as base, but not sure how that will turn out.
Yes you can use a generic mask, however for better effect i suggest making the lips and cheeks seperate and put those on it after painting it. It makes it feel more 3D and "puppet" like. ^^ It's really what suits you best for time and such. I had no school or anything so i had more time available to work on it.

I used a cotton pad for each cheek to know the size. just make the side you want to glue on the mask, fit the mask, and the other side smooth. Don't make it too much "part" of the mask, as if you keep it seeable it's glued on, gives it more of a chubby feel and fuller feel. Like mine
For the lips, almost the same, make the sides to the mouth flow with the line, and the other side opposite a tiny bit shorter

I made it
The white stripes are synthetic bands cut out and stitched after measuring my legs and arms. and the buttons are just wooden buttons painted white and stitched noobly onto a scarf wich got a hole in the middle for my head and neck. also small holed to strap it around my hips.
The rest is just simple gloves panties/leggings, socks, t-shirt and a skiing mask.

-Black scarf
-White buttons
-paper mache mask material.

Just a standard black T-shirt with a scarf
I cut a hole in the scarf for my neck, and attached the buttons to the scarf, and small holes at the side so i could tie it up to the backside

a skiing head piece, they sell them at sport shops, just make sure they are black, mostly they leave he face area open (so that is where the mask can go, and you can still eat without removing the whole head covering that way
