I had an idea like that too. Only in my version Ben Steele was a brain in a Thing-shaped robot and Larry Storm was the Human Negative.

"The Human Negative"?

Now why didn't I think of that?

Because you had one vision and I had another.

I had this really cool origin story too. Reed Calder builds a prototype space shuttle and intends to launch it to fire a probe into a passing cosmic storm. He recruits astronauts Ben Steele and Larry Storm to fly the ship. Reed meets Larry's sister Rita Storm, an out of work actress gifted with a photographic memory. Reed hires Rita to be his personal assistant.

Just before the launch Reed is crippled in an accident, (or was he?), and can't go on the flight. Rita, with her photographic memory, who knows all about how the probe works, is sent in his place. The shuttle is launched and when it reaches it's destination the siblings, Larry and Rita, exit the ship to launch the probe. The probe is launched into the storm and its entry causes a backlash of cosmic energy to hit the shuttle. Rita and Larry are bombarded with radiation and the shuttle is sent tumbling back to Earth.

Larry's human negative shoots out of his body and carries him and Rita back to the tumbling shuttle's cargo bay. The negative then stabelizes the ship before re-entering Larry's body. The Storms can't re-enter the shuttle due to damage by the cosmic bolt. Ben tries unsuccessfully to regain control of the damaged shuttle. The ship glides into a lake but when it hits the water it tumbles about and sinks.

People in the surrounding area gasp in shock as a giant naked woman rises screaming out of the water. She screams because in her hands is the smuldering remains of the shuttle. Rita makes it to shore and puts the shuttle down before collapsing into unconsciousness.

She awakens later in a secret lab complex. Reed is there and he shows her Larry who is now wrapped in special bandages. He then shows her the bulky Jupiter Probe robot which now houses Ben Steele's brain because his body was mangled beyond repair in the crash.

Of course something fantastic happens and Reed convinces the strange trio they are the only ones who can deal with it. Which they do and so was born the Fantastic Patrol.

This isn't my official Amalgam, but my F4+DP is called the "Doom Four" and consists of:

Fantasti-Girl (Mr. Fantastic + Elasti-Girl)
Inviso (Invisible Woman + Mento)
Negatorch (Human Torch + Negative Man)
and Robothing (Thing + Robotman)

My OFFICIAL Amalgams involving F4 and DP are [link] and [link]

Nice idea. My question is does Miles Richards have powers, it doesn't seem like it not with him being in a wheel chair.

Like Niles Caulder,one-half of this character's inspiration,he has supreme-level intelligence---which,if you read comics, can make you every bit as formidable as anyone with enhanced physical abilities!

The Negative Torch would have seemed like the more logical transition. The bandages would have been perfect for someone who always burnt themselves with there powers. Though I do remember a What if where Johnny became a Mandroid, a living robot, and that had Susan as Ultra Woman, a similar character to your Fantasti-Girl and Reed Richards was reduced to a telepathic Brain known simply as Big Brain. Are you familiar with this issue?

"Challengers Of The Fantastic",right?

Although the story itself was an interesting variation on the famous late 60's FF story about their first encounter with Galactus,I found them too similar to a "What If" story Marvel once did about the FF never having superpowers.

Besides,I can't very well combine every Marvel supergroup with the JLA,can I?

Yeah like you said it was done an has been done enough. I think they saw they both had 4 and were uninspired to do more
