CREATE THAT DADDY!
Name: Wyatt Reyes
Age: 28
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 140lb
Children: Arnel Reyes (3 years old)
Job: Primary Care Physician (residency)
Personality:
Wyatt can be a bit of a prick at times, but he generally means well. He’s often a bit arrogant or cocky, and is very prideful of the things he’s skilled at, be it med school or minmaxing. He’s quite fond of teasing people, and occasionally making passes so terrible that it’s not clear whether or not he meant it as a joke.
His lack of social skills, crude humor, and aura of smugness often make it difficult for him to get close with people, but when he does make friends with someone, he becomes staunchly loyal to them, and is quick to grow to really care about them. He often attempts to connect with others by attempting to bridge their interests, such as by finding a tabletop game themed around something the other person loves, and is easily touched by similar acts of thoughtfulness.
He’s self-proclaimed Neutral Evil and enjoys scheming, though he rarely has anything more scheme-worthy going on than planning a tabletop campaign or trying to convince someone to join him at a LARP.
Backstory:
Wyatt was raised by a single mother who always had to struggle to support the two of them. Determined that her child would have more opportunities and be more successful in life than she had been, she pushed him towards a path of academic achievement that could earn him the scholarships he’d need to become a doctor.
He excelled in academics at the expense of most everything else, and developed a bit of a superiority complex over his intelligence. He didn’t have too many friends as a child, and only became more and more unpleasant through middle school and high school, to the point of driving away his longtime best friend (a girl whom he’d started dating in middle school, only for her to realize she was a lesbian) with one too many homophobic comments. He stopped playing table top games for a while, as it was a hobby he had begun and mainly enjoyed with her, and buried himself in MMORPGs for the remainder of high school in lieu of trying to make friends in real life.
College did a lot of good for him. His socialite roommate, Bryce McDohl, was a more or less positive influence on him, and became the closest friend he’d had in a long while. He became less bitter about the world in general, and rekindled his passion for tabletop games. Bryce’s habit of bringing men as well as women back to the room made Wyatt reassess his feelings about LGBT people and his actions that had driven away his friend in high school—though not to the point that he’d ever let himself consider the idea that he was denying the fact that he felt anything more than friendship towards his attractive roommate.
By his third year of college, he’d finally managed to land himself a girlfriend, Jesamine, with whom he forged a surprisingly healthy and steady relationship. They married shortly after they received their bachelor’s degrees; Wyatt then continued on to med school, while Jesamine pursued a career in engineering.
In med school, Wyatt met a man by the name of Thomas who shared many of his classes and had an interest in D&D, and who quickly became a regular visitor at their apartment. Wyatt and his wife both became very close friends with him, though Jesamine could tell her husband’s feelings went a bit deeper than that. She didn’t become jealous, though, as she couldn’t deny feeling something as well. Instead, she urged Wyatt to do some introspection on the matter of his sexuality, and gently broached the topic of polyamorous relationships. He was a bit freaked out about the whole situation at first, but was eventually able to come to terms with it, and hesitantly agreed to experiment with their relationship. Thomas became their mutual boyfriend, and despite Wyatt’s initial uncertainty, the three of them became exceedingly happy together—for a short amount of time.
Everything changed when Jesamine announced she was pregnant. Tensions were very high—what would happen if Wyatt, her legal husband, wasn’t the father? What would happen if he was? Would Thomas have any claim as a parent? Was Wyatt and Jesamine’s corner of the relationship more “official” or “valid” as a married couple, while Thomas was not legally tied to either of them? They weren’t prepared to handle all of the issues that came up, and the relationship crumbled. Upon graduating med school, Thomas pursued his residency on the other side of the country and ceased contact with the two of them, while Wyatt took up his own residency in Maple Bay, the town Jesamine had found a new engineering job in, so that he could remain close to his son, Arnel.
Shortly after moving to Maple Bay, Wyatt became friends with another young father by the name of Esteban Brahmley , whose daughter went to the same preschool as Arnel. After broaching the topic of the upcoming ren faire during their smalltalk, they became very excited to discover the intersection of their interests, and have since made a habit of bringing their kids over for playdates while working on their costumes and props for the faire.
Extra Info:
- In addition to his snakebites and earrings, he has a tongue piercing he got in high school (hoping its less obvious spot would hide it from his mom, which it didn't). He also had his hair dyed fully blue at one point, which he misses, but he knows that even the streak is pushing it given his profession.
- His favorite class in just about anything is rogue, but wizards and fighters are also acceptable.
- He's bitter about his height, because even if he's tall for a Filipino man, he's still below the average American male height of 5'9", which gives him no defense against being called short.
- Despite his Pacific islands heritage, he hates hot weather, and is more comfortable in the cold. His favorite season is winter, and he's especially fond of ice skating and snowball fights.
- He uses his LARP prop supplies to make foam weapons for Arnel to play with, and would potentially make some for other neighborhood kids as well.
- He's afraid of heights, and refuses to go on a lot of big amusement park rides--that is, unless he thinks he'd lose face with someone, in which case he forces himself to go anyways.
- He enjoys wearing colorful shoelaces.
- He takes great pride in his D&D mapmaking skills, and is always impressed by well put-together fantasy world maps.
- He loves having his hair touched and played with, except for when it's Arnel yanking on his blue streak.
- Despite being a big fan of boffer LARP, he gets winded very easily when fighting, as he's not in very good shape.
- He likes to pretend he can hold his liquor, but he really can't. He tends to get clingy when drunk, and either finds everything hilarious, or thinks that everything is a challenge/bet he needs to take on.

FILL THAT PROFILE!
On a Friday night you are most likely to...
“Be grinding in WoW, working on costumes/props, or preparing notes for my next game, but never actually running the game like we agreed because herding gamers is like herding fucking cats. At least cats bathe regularly.”
If you had one thing to take with you onto a deserted island, what would it be?
“A device capable of signaling someone to come get me off the damn island. Like hell am I staying anywhere without electricity for more than a few hours.”
What are your turn-ons?
“Charisma. Specifically, at least 16 points in CHA, though 5+ ranks in both Diplomacy and Seduction can work too. A nice chest + ass doesn’t hurt either. Or an accent, accents are hot.”
What did you want to be when you grew up?
“The owner of a tabletop game store. It’s still a bit of a pipe dream.”
What's your favorite movie genre?
“Fantasy, especially stuff like Monty Python and the Holy Grail or The Princess Bride. Sci-fi's decent too.”
What's your ideal date?
“Boffer LARP fighting practice-turned-makeout session, with a break for a movie and Chinese food.”
What do you never leave home without?
“My phone? Sorry that I don’t have a cutesy answer for this one.”
I spend a lot of time thinking about:
“How do you handle a paladin PC if you’ve decided to eschew the alignment system”
