I can't say I really saw in this episode what you see in it. I guess I just don't have the right mindset. My biggest issue was that it was uncomfortable to watch, and after the last two seasons I'm just accepting that Rarity is boring to follow at this point.
I've seen plots in shows before where usually a mother will fail to see her child has grown up and eventually the child has to break it to their older family member that time has passed since the old days, and the plot never really touched my feels. This episode didn't do much for me either.
The one brilliant thing about the episode was the metaphor between the puppy and its owner. Maybe it's just cause I wasn't bright, but since the puppy still looked kinda small it wasn't easy to see it was a mature dog at that point. The way Rarity got to see how the puppy had grown up into a dog and realized it paralleled with Sweetie Belle was executed brilliantly. I liked that, but otherwise, this wasn't too strong an episode for me.

I'll admit there were some writing problems along the way, but it heavily payed off with two excellent morals.

This was an awesome episode! Even if sweetie Belle is getting older and outgrowing the very show she is a part of!
Don't worry though. In the next one the CMC is back to being fun and youthful as they help Big Mac with a love interest!

"Watching this episode I remembered something from my very own life: the first day of my matuirty exam (literature, comprehension and garmmar) I started walking to school shitting my pants from excitement. I took a quick look back to my mom who was standing in the front door, looking at me with teary eyes. I was too excited to comprehend what was going through her head, but when I finally calmed down I realized that in that very moment she took a last look at her baby boy, who went to school to write the biggest exam of his life and become a man. She didn't want to let me go (not literally), but she had to. Because this is how it had and has to be. Β
And if a single MLP episode can recall memories that occured more than a decade ago, it means that the writers did a darn good job."

though mlp has lost it's subtlety for me through the years as i've gotten older, it was still a funny and awakening episode.

I appreciate the episode tackling something like growing up, but I feel it was pretty boring at parts. The subplot of Zipporwhill was around only to serve as a parallel to Rarity's own plight. I think that could have been cut out for some more Sweetie and Rarity bonding. Still, it is a good episode, but could have been better.
It gets a B- from me.

This was such a somber episode and the message isn't just one siblings can learn from, but adults as well. This did tug at my emotions so much because I do understand the feeling of wanting to do things in the past, but at the same time, realizing and accepting the fact that people grow and their enjoyment changes over the years.
I would give this an A- as well

I'm about to watch 'Parental Glideance' and 'Hard To Say Anything' now, so I'll see how they are. I know MLP is a Canadian show, but it's kind of odd that they're like 4 weeks ahead of US release dates. I think they have new episodes airing just a day after the previous one, in some cases.

Yes, the episodes after Fluttershy Leans seem to be good so far. Dash episode was also suprisingly well written for a new writer.

Yes, it had a secret message to bronies that this show might become like that pink rubber bone and no longer feel fun, but the main message was to parents treating their kids too immature as well as trying to cherish every moment of their life because they grow up very fast.

They said the themes were 'family bonds' and those episodes will always pull at the heart strings. Β A string of excellent episodes is also good at building hype for the movie.

They said the theme is "family"? Hmm then it make sense why they paired Discord with Fluttershy in that future episode. I wonder if they building it up in platonic sense as sister type of family or more romantic sense as girlfriend type of family.

This must be one of your most sober reviews up till now ^^ No satire at all or any sarcasm as far as I could tell.
I enjoyed the episode as well but it was a bit pulled to the side with the next episode because that one really tugged at my heartstrings.
Wouldn't say it was perfect, I'll probably go with an A- as well ^^

I've heard that quite a few will be up on early release but I don't think it will be all episodes as the episodes are only ready 7-8 weeks in advance. So Canada can't keep up. We'll probably have till June or so, not sure.
