Between the 1984 Transformers series and the 1986 animated film, Optimus Prime originally Orion Pax before his rebuild, was a beloved, fearless and heroic autobot leader who lead his army of Autobot troops from the planet cybertron, who stop the evil decepticons from stealling energy from earth's resources, They hope to gain the trust from earth's human beings to give energy in order to help them fight off the Decepticons for survival, Megatron was Optimus' most hated enemy, they would often have battles to the death with one another, until the battle of autobot city on earth in 2005, Optimus had been tragically killed in battle by Megatron, Optimus passed the Matrix of leadership to Ultra Magnus, before the Matrix ultimately choose hotrod to be the new leader of the Autobots and dubbed him Rodimus Prime, as used the power of the Matrix to defeat the world eating monster Unicron once and for all, later on in 2006, a horrible disease called the Hate plague had spread across the galaxy infecting millions of lives and causing them to attack one another, Optimus was brought back from the dead by a Quintesson and was coated in a protective aloy before he acquire the Matrix back from Rodimus, he uses the Matrix to eradicate the Hate plague from existence.

In the anime Mobile Suit Gundam (1979), Zeon forces were attacking the space coloney Side 7 and the citizens of Side 7 were evacuating from the space station, a human civilian boy named Amuro Ray rised from the crowed and wonder off the Earth federation's Side 7 defense base, he soon came across unmanned mobile suit called the RX78-2 Gundam, commonly known as Gundam was lying down on a transport vehicle until Amuro went inside the cockpit of the mobile suit and read the manual that was included in the Gundam, Amuro had soon manage the controls of the Gundam, he pilots the mobile suit to fight against the Zeon's Zaku II mobile suits and won the battle in Side 7, Amuro was hired by the Earth federation in order fight off the Principality of Zeon and restore order to the galaxy, Amuro uses the Gundam to fight off Zeon mobile suits and often comes across Char Aznable, a Zeon double agent until the Gundam was destroyed in the battle with Zeon while Amuro escapes into space and reunites with the Earth federation.

You may notice in the deviant that it shows Optimus Prime and The RX78-2 Gundam both having the dual eyes and mouth plate combinations on their faces, not just that, but also they came two different poplular mecha franchises that ae still going on strong to this day, what's interesting is that Peter Cullen the original voice actor of Optimus Prime and Yoshiyuki Tomino the original creator of the Gundam series were both born in the same year, 1941.
