She huddles up against his shirt, there, where his steady heartbeat can be heard and her thoughts turn into those of love and tender defiance. What do they know, those, who only knew a serpent as a foreigner, a co-worker, an acquaintance or from the mere stories that others told. What do they know, who are only willing to understand the obvious, staying blind for all the subtleties that lie beneath! Again, she looks up and watches him. Is it really that important to know whatever is going on behind these ever open eyes? He could be staring, brooding, he could be somewhere else completely. And yet...he is there. She knows: Wherever that might be, the place he was at before - the very next moment, he'd be there again.

Stiff beaks (that can't kiss), staring eyes (that can't close), bird face, serpent face. They all are shallow attributes only, which slowly but surely lose meaning to both of them, with each day passing by.
