Backstory (TW abuse/suicide - kept mentions brief):

Born as a mortal Genasi, Apfel was welcomed into a negligent family. He struggled through this poor family life for 15 years, going through the motions as the wore him down. This routine eventually took him down to hell where he awoke as a harpy in the middle ring. Here he spent two more years torturing negligent parents, negligent government officials, anyone who would make the world unlivable for other people. His time in hell was a mixed bag, but ultimately he decided he couldn't do it anymore and found a way to crawl back out to the mortal surface.

On the run from Hell, Apfel was found by Florian and Cornelius, who adopted and sheltered him for three more years. But, with an anxious mind and not wanting to draw the forces of hell upon his fathers, mother, and brother, Apfel ran once again. Only visiting every once and awhile to check up on his brother and to drop off gifts for his family. His ultimate plan ending up on earning enough money to try and bribe Hell into leaving him alone.

Finding Laughalot's ad for management, Apfel took up the interview and was given a higher salary than what would typically be expected - due to Laughalot's lack of knowledge of how much other jobs paid and also Laughalot's initial takingness with Apfel as a whole. The story starts around here.
