This is Ranger from the Animals of Farthing Wood series. My, what can be said about Ranger. He's by far the best male fox character in the entire series, and he's got to be one of my fave characters (tied with Charmer, I think ). He's clever, cunning, loving, and damn is he sexy. For a fox, I mean...I imagine if he was a human, he'd have the looks of David Beckham, the intelligence of Stephen Fry, the effortless cool of Johnny Depp and the lovability of Dr. Zoidberg. So, completely out of my league, then.

I'll retain from drooling for a brief moment, shall I? Anyway, Ranger. A son of Scarface and Lady Blue, he couldn't be more different from them in personality. In the TV series, it's Bold who opens his eyes to the pointlessness of the fight between their families, but in the book it is Bold who reminds him of the differences between them. Charmer is the real reason why Ranger is so reluctant to fight the red foxes, and the love between them in touching. In the third TV series, unfortunately, Ranger is so butchered as a character to make way for Plucky (wonderful, faultless, incredible Plucky *sarcasm overload*), that he isn't really developed much further. In my opinion, Ranger was a much better candidate for leadership than Plucky ever could be, but Fox chooses Plucky because he's his grandson and he's red (That's a real example to set to the watching kids! Fox racism!). But I still love Ranger.

Done using watercolours, as always. I actually got the idea for the pose from the second Farthing Wood sticker album, where there is a double page spread of all the foxes, and Ranger is shown running. Not perfect (but then again, when is a piece of my art ever perfect), but ok. I only wish I'd done him more justice with this one.
