Lilystream had to blink a few times before her vision became clear. She sat up, yawned and stretched before getting to her paws. As quiet as she could, she padded out of the den, careful not to wake anyone up. It was still half dark outside but she didn't mind it, she was hungry. The dawn-patrol had not left yet, maybe she could go out and hunt herself. She would get something for the clan, and for herself. Hunting with someone would go faster, though. Maybe I should ask Fogflight. She thought. But then again, he was still asleep and she didn't want to bother him just because she was hungry. When she noticed no one else was around, she started heading toward the camp entrance.

Redpaw had had difficulties to sleep on a night before and this night hadn't been any easier than that. The tenseness from the last gathering was still running through her spine and she was afraid of that other Clans would get idea to attack at them. Opening up her eyes again after keeping them closed for a while again failing to get some more sleep. Shaking her fur she rose on her paws and stretched wondering whether she should try to sleep still or not. Suddenly she heard how some rustling broke the silence. Prickling her ears, Redpaw padded out from the apprentices' den and noticed how the entrance was shaking; someone had just gone out.

Lilystream had entered the forest. She stood still and sniffed the air. Immediately, the scent of mouse flooded over her and she dropped down into a hunter's crouch. Soon, she spotted the little creature, sitting near a bunch of ferns. Carefully, Lilystream stalked foreward, untill she was less than a tail-length away and she made herself ready to jump foreward.

Meanwhile Redpaw had padded across the camp and as she was closer to entrance she could scent strongly her sister's scent. Lilystream is awake? she tilted her head in wonder and again as she rose on her paws she padded more forward until she was out from the camp.

The silence surrounded her and her ears were prickling while her eyes were trying to get used to the dark. Listening quietly the sound of the sleeping chilly forest she looked around. Maybe she could try and figure out where Lilystream went? Maybe it wouldn't do anything bad.

With one quick bite, it had been done. Lilystream picked up the mouse and went to look for a spot to bury it. But she had this strange feeling someone was following her. She burried her mouse and turned around . She stalked closer to where she came from and she made no sound. Whoever was following her, was close. She couldn't smell anyone, since the wind wasn't blowing the right way, but she was certain there was someone there. ''I know you're there, you can come out now!'' She called out.

Nearly jumping off from her fur, Redpaw's fur puffed twice its size as she glanced towards the call that Lilystream had made. For a moment she wondered whether to just surprise her sister or just give herself away. Rolling her eyes for a moment she padded towards her. "You don't need to spook me like that!" She called at the pale ginger tabby she-cat as she was still fluffed up by her call. "It is fine, it is only me -Redpaw" She mewed quickly trying to avoid anymore consequences.

''Well, I didn't know it was you. You shouldn't sneak up on me!'' Lilystream joked. ''I didn't see you in camp, I just left to go for a hunt. And now that you are here, would you like to go with me?'' She hoped her sister would say yes, since she still didn't feel like going alone, and they'd catch more if they'd work together.

Listening up her sister's unserious tone Redpaw couldn't help but roll her eyes for a brief moment. "Sure I'd love to hunt with you!" She mewed and smiled as she padded now completely on her sister's eye sight. "Where did you plan to hunt? Around here?" She added scanning the area around her with her head as her ears were prickling by curiousity.

''I hadn't really thought about going to a specific place yet. I guess we could maybe try hunting by the river.'' Lilystream suggested. As she spoke, the thought of trying to catch fish popped up in her head again. ''So, what would you say, should we go there?''

"Sure!" Redpaw purred and bounced briefly by sudden energy. "I think that sounds good" She mewed and turned starting to head towards the river. "If the river has kept any warmth or shelter for the prey I bet that is very good spot

Redpaw kept up with her sister's side but suddenly froze her ears prickling as she heard Lilystream's words. "Catch a fish?" She echoed. "But isn't that more MistClan's duty rather than ours?" She asked keeping up with her padding forward.

Feeling the same scent hit against her own nose too, Redpaw darted after her sister. While running Redpaw tried to land silently hoping that the squirrel wasn't going to spot or run away before they came at the spot where it was. Slowing down Redpaw could feel the tang of scent even stronger now and she prickled her ears forward. "Can you see it...?" She asked keeping her voice down.

Lilystream twitched her ear to answer her sister's question. Carefully she stalked foreward, but before even getting as close as a tail length away, the squirrel looked up, and jumped away, to safety. However, the squirrel did not look their way when it looked up, it seemed to be distraced by something else. ''Fox dung!'' Lilystream hissed. ''Something scared it away!''

Redpaw held her breath watching her sister to creep closer to the creature. "..." Hearing up some snappish sound her ears prickled in the air and she turned her head away just to hear her sister to swear a bit further away from her. "...Did you catch it?" She asked suddenly distracted by shiver as if she was being stared at and she quickly padded up to pale ginger tabby.

''No!'' Lilystream hissed, her eyes still fixed on the ground, where the squirrel had been. ''It saw something and ran away, but it surely wasn't looking my way, something must've scared it away, but I do not know what and I can't smell anything strange.'' She mewed, calmer now.

Still startled by what she heard, Redpaw reached Lilystream's side and glanced at Lilystream's paws then forward noticing the paw steps of the prey. "W-well..." She started and turned to face Lilystream. "Lets hope that next catch dives into our paws?" She mewed trying to fix a smile on her face even though she still felt terrified.

Lilystream nodded. ''And let's hope whatever scared it away isn't close anymore, and it better not be a rogue.'' She hissed before sniffing the air again. A vole caught her attention this time. Once again she crouched down into a hunters crouch and started stalking foreward, slowely. Closer and closer to the vole.

Nodding in agreement Redpaw decided to try and catch her own piece of prey too. She lifted her nose up in the air and scented the air, failing to catch any new scents. Deciding to go the other way she began to pad away, careful not to make any noises to get Lilystream's vole alarmed.

Lilstream had waited a few heartbeats before jumping foreward to catch the vole. She caught it this time, but there was still something she didn't like. Suddenly she had a feeling someone else was nearby. Quickly she beckoned her sister to come.

Suddenly Redpaw's ears shot in the air as she heard rustling near by. "L-Lilystream. Was that you?" She asked as she began to back off. Someone was stalking at her. Or them.
Redpaw quickly spun around and dashed at her sister.

Lilystream waited untill her sister was with her, then they quietly hid in some ferns nearby. Lilystream stayed close to the ground. She heard pawsteps very close, only a few fox lengths away. They were heavy pawsteps, and they were comming closer and closer. A few heartbeats later, a huge, black dog stepped out of the bushes, almost right infront of the ferns Lilystream and her sister were hiding. Its fur was covered with scars. They must've been deep wounds, for sure. As she was looking at the dog, she felt a sting of recognization. Those scars, those eyes, can it be..? She fell her fur stand up straight and she had to struggle not to scream, but she was very sure. This was the dog who killed Nightfall.

Redpaw dug her head into her fore paws, holding up her breath. She could smell the stench of the dog but she didn't dare to lift her head up. Feeling the ground to shake briefly by the paw steps, Redpaw lifted her head just to notice that the dog had briefly turned around and was sniffing the air. She gasped quietly for the air and suddenly felt how her nose began to tickle by the scent of ferns. She took a deep breath of air and tried to hold herself. This was't the right time to do any mistakes.

Lilystream stared at the big creature in horror. She wasn't sure what to do at this point. She remembered how strong the dog was last time, but she couldn't let the dog wander around in their territory, and she didn't want to lose another cat, especially not her sister. Her ears twitched, she knew she wanted to jump at the dog and scratch its old scars open, but that could be a mousebrained idea. Maybe if they'd manage to get more warriors they could fight the dog. Barely daring to breathe, Lilystream whispered; ''I think you should go back to camp and get some wa-'' Her whisper was broken off by a sound that made her ears ring. The dog had barked and was now very close by. Lilystream's senses told her to run, far away. But she wasn't going to do that. She wouldn't let the creature get away this time and she was determined to make it go away once and for all.

"What...?" Redpaw asked letting her breath go but soon enough she sneezed. Terrified she couldn't help but see the dog to tense and look wildly around. "M-maybe we s-should leave..." She muttered under her breath to Lilystream's ear as she began to back off hoping that the next move that she was making would end up in a snap of a twig.

Lilystream hadn't seemed to hear her sister's voice. Without any hesitation, she jumped out of the safety of the bushes and head right for the dog's throat. She wasn't going to give up this time, no, not this time. Lilystream was never really close with Nightfall, but he was a clanmate, and the dog would pay for killing him. The creature seemed to be weaker than last time though it did manage to shake Lilystream off. Right away, she jumped to her paws again and leaped onto the dog's back, scratching the old scars open.

Terrified by her sister's sudden move Redpaw stared at her and the dog for a couple of heart beats. She is mousebrained! she thought in alarm as her bright yellow eyes were stretched wide open. After a while faint growl rumbled from her throat and with a crouch she shot at the opening leaping at the dog's hind leg biting it hard down earning a pitchy yelp from the creature

Lilystream was still holding onto the creature's back. She was determined and she wouldn't let go untill the dog would run away with its tail between its paws. The dog was yelping in pain and anger. It managed to shake Lilystream off, but she got to her paws right away and leaped toward the dog's face. She raked her claws along the dog's eyes and blood drops fell on the ground. The creature let out a high pitched howl and made a run for it. Lilystream nodded greatfully at her sister before chasing after the dog for a few more fox lengths.

Feeling the dog yelp by pain she opened her eyes noticing some blood to land on the ground and on the next moment the dog rose on its front legs and then stomped hind legs, strong enough to shake Redpaw off. With a surprise Redpaw flew and tried to land on her paws, failing and she landed on her side with "Ow!". Opening her eyes again she saw Lilystream to chase after the dog and she lifted her head, prickling her ears in fear that the dog would attack her sister again. For her relief she noticed that the dog kept running and didn't even give a thought to hurt her warrior-sister.

Lilystream managed to give the dog's hindleg a huge scratch before it got away. She let out a very loud hiss before turning back. ''Well,'' She meowed when she padded toward Redpaw. ''I don't think that dog will come back. Not anytime soon, atleast. It better not.'' She felt relieved, but very tired. ''You've fought very well, sister. I will make sure to tell your mentor this. I think it is time for you to become a warrior. Sadly, that is not up to me to decided. But I'm just saying, if it was up to me..'' She was proud of Redpaw. She really meant what she said. She didn't understand why Autumnstar took so long deciding whether to turn apprentices into warriors. 
''Are you okay, though? Do you have any serious injuries?''

Feeling light and suddenly glad by the compliment by her sister, Redpaw broke into soft purr: "Don't worry Lilystream, I bet I'll catch up with you soon! I swear I'll make my mentor to beg me out from apprentices' den" She joked at the end as she got onto her paws, feeling briefly strange by that they were almost the same size, she was a bit fluffier, but they were the same age but different ranks. Hearing up Lilystream's second question, she prickled her ears and blinked. "I am fine, that dog didn't manage to bite any hair of me even!" Redpaw smiled and gave a loving nudge to her sister's side. "Are you okay yourself?"

''Haha, yeah, I bet you will.'' Lilystream joked before replying to her sister's question. ''I'm just a little shakey, got a few scratches but other than that, I'll be fine. Im just glad that monster is gone. That dog better stay away now.'' It had been moons since Nightfall's death, but it was still fresh in Lilystream's memory. Even if they weren't as close, it is something she will never forget. But she knew she'd feel better now that the dog was gone, although something else was bothering her now. It hadn't come up in her mind that recklessly attacking the dog like that could've ended really bad for both her and Redpaw. ''Her, Redpaw, I'm sorry for acting without thinking.'' She meowed. ''Now that it's all over, it might've been better if we turned back to get help, I guess my act was a little foolish. But at the time it seemed like the best thing to do. I did not mean to get you or me in danger.'' She sighed. ''I've never really talked about what happened that day, with Nightfall. Not even with Fogflight. It is still really hard for me.''

Hearing a word about Fogflight she prickled her ears and suddenly felt an urge to ask something from Lilystream. "Umm... Lilystream?" She asked feeling her fur to grow hot. "How you have got so close with Fogflight? I-I mean... Eeh..." Finding it hard to speak out her mind she turned her gaze at the ground pawing it with her other paw.

''Thank you.'' She meowed before her sister's question. Lilystream didn't even need to ask why Redpaw asked her this. ''Well, we were friends, first. We had normal conversations and I noticed I felt really comfortable being with him.. Then we started hunting together, taking walks together..'' She meowed as if she were re-living those moments. ''It just happened, really. We grew closer as we spend time together.''

"Alright" Redpaw mewed with a nod and tilted her head briefly to the other side while lifting her head straight up again. "How should I do?" She asked aloud and noticing Lilystream's briefly questioning look her ears flattened nearly against her head by embarrassment. "You see... I r-really like Fallenleaf" She explained and lifted her gaze up again suddenly feeling as low ranked as her name really gave away. "He became warrior wayyy before me and all I am trying hard to do is to reach the same level. I-I am stuck and I don't know what to do"

''Aww! That's so cute!'' Lilystream meowed. ''Ah, I'm sorry. Well, me and Fogflight were in the same situation. He became a warrior before me even though we are about the same age. But we knew what we felt for eachother, though it took me a while to admit to myself how I felt. But as soon as I did, I knew how strong it was and I knew he would wait for me. Literally, the only thing that seperated us was our ranks.'' She told her sister. ''If Fallenleaf feels the same way you feel about him, he'll wait for you, too.'' She licked Redpaw over the ear. ''Just try spending some time with him.''

Smiling by the comfort she got from her sister, Redpaw nodded and glanced at the sky. "All I just hope that nothing would go wrong" She mewed and returned her gaze at Lilystream. "But anyway... Shall we continue hunting or return back to the camp once we have collected our prey? It starts to be a bit late" Redpaw mewed with a purr pointing out the sky that was turning more and more purple as moments passed by.
