Ornaments that will be decorating my tree this year! I love the Zelda goddess pearls so much. I wish I could make them glow like in the game. Ah, maybe next year I will experiment with some LED lights inside.

I updated the glitter colors some from last year. Mostly the blue one, I am finally happy with it. Din's Pearl is the easiest and Naryu and Farore are pretty time consuming. I still sometimes do those in multiple stages, I just can't paint the designs fast enough before the glue starts to dry.

Hope you like them! Happy holidays everyone!

They are pretty easy to make, just time very time consuming and tedious.

I read it and I actually think it seem pretty hard haha. I mean to get the markings that perfect!

Not so much when you include the clean up step. I often make them less then perfect and remove the extra with my exacto. It is just tedious and if you aren't one for tedious things it can get frustrating.

Good thing I am much up for tedious stuff! Im a sculptor myself and often spend over 40 hours on one piece. I would love to try this! They turn out so pretty. <3333

I knew that, I have seen your work quite a few times and it always impresses me. I have no doubt that you would be able to make these without much issue.

They are even prettier in person, the way they sparkle just cannot be captured on camera. I wish it could.

Thank you so much! I will try! But the wierd thing about me is that I can be super patient with some stuff (like sculpting and writing) but with other stuff I go nuts if I cant have it done after 3 seconds. XD I will see what category this fit into. Hahaha

I bet! And I KNOW! its soooooooooooooooooooooo frustrating! Same with my sculpts, the camera can never capture their right color or dept, so much is lost when uploading them and I think thats really annoying. -______-

I find the better the camera the better the photos come out. If I ever learn how to use it properly use the one I have I am sure I could have some amazing photos. Though, never really of anything shiny, there is just no good way to capture that in a still form. The glitter it is especially disappointing with because you cannot see they way they sparkle. On a tree with lights they just look amazing.

I know what you mean. I wouldn't have a good one but my boyfriend went and got himself a pretty good one (the lenses make the most difference) since he was always interested in photography. We get some pretty nice pictures when ever we go hiking but I use it more to take photos of all my items. He is actually learning to use it while I just set it on auto. One of these days I might take the time to learn how to use it.

Wow Im in awe of you! I only use my camera on auto too so I guess I must learn that as well. Haha And hiking!!! I LOVE hiking! <33333

cutekick In reply to Escaron [2014-12-18 05:18:18 +0000 UTC]

Nothing to really be on awe of. Everytime I try to use it I get the white balance all wrong or the focus just enough off that you cannot tell in the preview screen by it is too much when you check the photos on the computer. I just leave it on auto and do all the corrections on photoshop instead. Hiking is so much fun! It is my main form of exercise because I have some old injuries that never properly healed and walking is about the only thing I can do without issue. Living in the Seattle area there are tons of wonderful parks to go walk around and they are lovely no matter what time of the year.

Im totally a auto- person too. XD

I love hiking sooo much! Me and my sister are like... hike masters. XD We walk for 8 hours straight not resting or eating cause we simply love it so much, and then we do the same for 7 more days after, it always end with us not even able to move in the end cause we are so tired. XD I have a knee that is "loose" so it dislocates all the time and therefore neither I can do much else than walk, but walking is THE BEST! High five!

cutekick In reply to Escaron [2014-12-21 21:29:43 +0000 UTC]

I don't know if we are hiking masters but we enjoy it. A dislocating knee sounds painful! I have a leg that got all messed up when I fell down some brick stairs, face first, I didn't break my head open because I was carrying a box and that broke my fall but my leg and knee had these large horizontal bruises from where it hit all the steps. I could walk but it hurt. In hindsight I really should have seen a doctor when it happened but the campus security wanted me to go to the hospital and I refused that. I did see a doctor much, much later, after all the bruising was gone and they said I had done some long medical name thing to my knee and that it should heal with time. Well, it has been many years and no change to it. It bends backwards a bit, goes out every once in awhile, and just gets really sore when I do something it doesn't like such as biking or going up a lot of steps. Walking is the best! I am happy I live somewhere now where there are tons of places to hike! Back when there was nothing except walking around town it was boring and I just did not get enough exercise. Now it is much better since there are so many parks with hiking paths around.

*o* so those symbols are from Zelda! I was thinking it looks awfully familiar but I can't seem to recall.
A really delicate job done well! I'm amazed you did it very neatly!

cutekick In reply to icy-ciel [2013-12-27 23:25:36 +0000 UTC]

Haha, no worries. I wanted the tutorial to be rather generic so I didn't mention they were from Zelda. I just happen to always have to make several sets of these each year and it was easiest to photograph them for the tutorial.

icy-ciel In reply to cutekick [2013-12-28 05:20:29 +0000 UTC]

wow, so making this ornaments are a yearly ritual for you?
you must've had plenty already! (although it's rather obvious from your gallery)

Do you do a themed Christmas tree decoration? or just randomly make ones that you feel like making at that time?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cutekick In reply to icy-ciel [2013-12-28 06:44:46 +0000 UTC]

Not and intentional ritual. I go to make some new ones every year. New designs and such. But every year more of my family and friends want some of them (the Zelda ones are rather popular). Cousins moving into their own places so they want a set for their own tree and such. Sometimes the younger kids accidentally break some meaning replacements need making. They all want a bit of the nerdyness on their own trees and it makes for nice gifts. I get to theme them with things they like, it has the personal touch, and it doesn't cost me too much to make them. My uncle who is a huge Star Wars buff is super jealous of my dad's new Star Wars ornaments and made several hints that I make him some next year.

After I finish the the remakes for family and friends I just kind of go with the flow. I don't always know what I will make and sometimes I just experiment with what I can do. Somethings work, somethings don't. I tend to focus on things I am into, hence the Animal Crossing ornament and my many, many trials of pokeballs.

icy-ciel In reply to cutekick [2013-12-28 17:21:21 +0000 UTC]

aah, I see. Oh, I love personal touches for presents! It makes things more special ^_^ They make for really nice gifts indeed.
Hehehe, I'm sure your uncle couldn't wait for next year's Christmas. He'll be delighted to get some of your ornaments

Ah, yup. It's just like being carried away in making crafts
The animal crossing leaf ornament you did is super cute! and pokeballs huh? I'm trying to think of a way... but it is tricky indeed. Have you tried painting the lower half of the inside with white, let it dry... then paint the upper half (with red paint over the inner white paint), let it dry... then paint the "black ring" and button on the outside?

what do you do with your experiments that didn't turn out as you wished?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cutekick In reply to icy-ciel [2013-12-28 21:07:25 +0000 UTC]

The pokeball problem isn't the coloring. I have a way to do that. I want to make it with glitter but white glitter is see through for some reason. I have tired putting white paint behind the white glitter but then you can't see the glitter at all. I am going to try different brands of white glitter next year. I tired to make the bottom silver but it just looks off. I have also tried just painting the bottom white and glittering the top red but it looks a bit weird too.

The last game I've played was Wind Waker, since I do not own a wii or anything more recent.

Plus, I'm still fond of my memories of playing Link's Awakening and A Link to the past, to be honest...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cutekick In reply to Mits-Giotix [2013-12-23 19:47:01 +0000 UTC]

Oh, well with a gamecube you can play Twilight Princess. The cube version is better IMO, the controls were rather wonky on the Wii since it was a port and all. Link to the Past and Wind Waker are my favorites still though I go back and forth on which one I like best. As pretty as Skyward Sword is, there were major parts that annoyed me but I can't recommend Link Between Worlds enough. Really, it has that Link to the Past feel that all us oldie zelda fans find lacking in all the newer ones.
