To the people who care about this thing:

I just finished engraving the Triforce on the octagonal section, spray painted the handle with automotive grade paint (so it feels like metal) and put on a coat of clay as a precursor for the silver leaf. It's 85% finished! The only reason it's taken me this long is because I have three online classes I'm taking and the access to my dad's woodshop is limited. People work there so I try as hard as I can to balance my actual work with the hobby work without getting in the way of people.

So hopefully by this Friday I can have it silver and gold leafed!

PS, if you want a cosplay version (that uses high quality spray paint instead of metal leaf) it would be cheaper. I'm metal leafing it because I plan on just having it as a collectible. If you touch metal leaf enough it starts to tarnish and turn all nasty. I could put a coat of sealant but that would cost me quite a few dollars. I'll probably do it anyways.

Anyways, expect an update by Friday.

That's quality work, I'd love to see it finished. And I agree about the Triforce etching in the blade, are you going to put that on?

The shape is perfect, but I hope you'll be adding the Triforce carving to the hexagonal section of the blade near the guard in your detail work, otherwise I wouldn't even consider buying it. Even the worst of the Master Sword replica's out there have that bit.

I'm definitely going to add the Triforce, I just never put it on in this picture. A lot more work has been put into it than is on this post. I'll have to put up a picture, I'm just afraid of screwing the blade up. But that's what I'm going to work on tonight.

Do that, and you'll easily have the best Master Sword replica on the market.

I'm still itching to try and find a full tang Master Sword (like real metal, where the blade's length actually goes all the way through the handle), but that leads me to wonder what sort of material the hilt and guard of the Master Sword are canonically. All of the hilt seems to be of the same material, and the guard is metal as any other material would render the guard useless...but having it full metal hilt would be rather heavy...so I'm thinking the guard and pommel would me metal, while the handle section of the hilt is wooden, with a sheet of metal overlayed, then wrapped with the green tinted leather.

Yeah, that's the problem. To be able to swing it like Link does, it would have to be less than 5 pounds. Which is why I'm making it out of one solid piece of wood. I also painted the handle last night, and looking it now is making me giddy

Also, I did buy some green leather, so as soon as I put it on I'll take another progress picture. Hopefully I can put on the Triforce today, all I did was etch an indentation on the wood. I'll have to do some more practice dremeling on some scrap wood. And if I DO mess up, I can just fill it with bondo and start again...
