"Is it something I did, I love you Ryuzaki."Light said L refused to look at Light as he spoke but Light knew from the tone in his voice that it was hurting him just as much.

"I love you too, you and I both knew this day would come and against my better judgement I allowed this to go on. I deeply regret that this happened, I hope that one day you can forgive me for hurting you. You have done the impossible, in all the time I have been doing this,it has never been so difficult to leave." Light pulled him into a hug.

"You gave me an amazing gift, you turned my life around, I need you with me. I can't go back to life without you."Light whispered.

"If it's your work, you can do it here, I'll do everything I can to help."

"I can't have you involved, do you have any idea how I would feel if something happened to you because you are close to me?"

"I know the risks and I'm willing to face them, stay with me. Make a life here, we'll do it together, we can have a home, there are so many possibilities for us.All you have to do is give me a chance, please?"

"I'm afraid I wouldn't know what to do with such a life, if one day I found myself needing something more, you are asking me to give up everything I know. I am feeling conflicted." L rested his head on Light's shoulder.

"Love is meant to be a partnership of sorts, there will be sacrifices on both parts. you give your hearts to each other Is that something you see yourself doing. Ryuzaki?" Watari asked.

"Yes. but I would never forgive myself if-"

'As much as I know you want to, you can't protect the ones you love from everything. Simply stepping outside can be dangerous, sometimes we must turn down our thoughts and listen to our heart. If you weren't a detective and had no reason to worry about this,what would your heart want?"

"To stay, I know that you would not be with me, Watari. I-"

"Of course I would. You are my son and I'll be with you as long as you want me to be. If this is really what you want, then I encourage you to follow it and see where it leads."

"Your life is changing, that's okay. It happens to people all the time. I am so proud of everything you've accomplished, I am proud of the young man you are. It's alright to chose a different path, you are loved either way, and you will always have me." The old man said gently.

"Can you be happy here, Watari, I know that you are very fond of the-" Watari placed a hand on his shoulder.

"If you are happy and healthy, I will be happy anywhere in the world. I'm not attached to material possessions, You're much more important to me. Arrangements can be made." L hesitated.

"This choice is yours, no one can make it for you. Life is filled with difficult choices."

"I would like to stay, however, Light, you must understand that this is an adjustment that will take time."

"We'll take it as slow as you need to. I promise you, if you think things are going too fast and you're not comfortable with something, just let me know."

"Yes, I suppose it will. I will have the two people that mean the most to me."

"I can't tell you how happy I am to have you here, and Sayu can't wait to meet you, but don't worry, I told her she had to wait until you were comfortable enough. She was happy when I told my family I wanted to ask you to stay here."

"I'm sure your Father wasn't." L commented.

"He's concerned, but any parent would be I guess. He'll come around." Light assured him.

"I'm not convinced that your family will like this idea."

"They'll love you, like you said, it'll take time. this will work." Watari moved to the laptop.

"I'd better make a few calls then, and we can look around for a house, you can't live the rest of your life in this hotel. maybe we'll attend some open house events. It doesn't all have to be done at once, don't overwhelm yourself, Ryuzaki."

"Yes, Watari, and thank you, I am very lucky to have you in my life."

"If you two want to give me a moment or two, I will make my calls and then if there's anything in particular you would like to do, we can talk about it." The man excused himself, leaving L and Light alone.

"Is there anything you would like to do today, Light?'L asked.

"As long as I'm with you, it doesn't matter. I just want-" Light was interrupted by his phone, he pulled it from his pocket.

"I'm sorry, it's a text from Sayu, I can talk to her later." He said setting the ringer to silent.

"You should read it, it could be important."L insisted. Light nodded opening the text.

Did you ask him yet?"Light sighed.

Yeah, we'll talk about this later

He said yes right, tell me.

I'll talk to you later. Light placed the phone back in his pocket.

"She's just excited to see if you decided to stay or not. She really wants to meet you, but this is nothing compared to the day I told her we were together. "

"I see. when Watari and I find a home, when the time is right, I will talk to him about inviting your family to visit for an evening."

"We'd like that, if you need help looking or moving in, I'll be there, just let me know."

"Thank you, I'm sure we could use the help moving in."

"I'll be there." Light promised, kissing L softly.

"I know you will."L replied, Light would always be there, there was no doubt in the detective's mind. He leaned closer to Light. He didn't know what to expect from his new relationship, but if the way Light held him was any indication, he couldn't imagine regretting his decision.
