Description
It was evening when the door to the confinement room opened and L entered. Light, who had been sitting on the floor, stood up quickly.

"Ryuzaki, what's-"

"I must ask that you come with me." L replied, turning from him and walking through the door. Light followed curiously, he could tell L was upset about something. Light reached out to take L's hand in an effort to comfort him, only to have the detective pull away. They climbed the stairs leading to the roof. It was only then that the dark haired man turned to him.

A long silence followed, a soft, cool breeze brushed against them and the sun was beginning to set.

"Ryuzaki, why did you bring us up here?"Light asked at last.

"Because there are no cameras here, you and I can speak freely, also, I enjoy watching the sunset. I need to speak with you about something important. What I am about to tell you, is going to hurt me beyond anything you can imagine. I know what happens next, what must happen." Light took a step forward.

"Whatever it is, I'm here." He comforted.

"I know who you are."L said.

"What do you mean?"

"I know that you're Kira." Light sighed.

"This again?"

"Will you deny it?"Light hated the tone in L's voice.

"After all we went through, are you sure you want me to-"

"Yes."

"Alright, yes, I'm Kira, how long have you known?"

"Almost immediately after meeting you. Thank you for not lying to me. You do realize that you confessed?"

"I understand, you win. I meant what I said though, I do love you and I do like having you close to me."

"I know you did. I love you too, Light Yagami, I shouldn't given our situation, in just one night, you managed to show me something I have never known and that is why it hurts me."

"I guess Watari and the rest of the team are going to be up here soon to take me in?"

"No. I told you, you and I can talk freely, no one can hear us. I asked Watari to allow me alone time with you but I didn't tell him where we were going. I wanted to see if you would tell me the truth and you have. I want you to do something for me Light, please?"

"I'd do anything for you, just name it."

"You kill by using only a name and face, I have given you my name. I have failed, I can't finish this investigation. I cannot allow you to continue on your current path, nor do I have the heart to fulfill my calling. If you wish to continue, I cannot, you will have to kill me." Light's heart sank.

"Never, don't ask me to do that. Don't ask me to give you up. Especially to something so final." Light pulled him into a hug. "I love you too much. I'm sorry I put you in this position, but I could never hurt you." L returned the embrace.

"Then if you will not end my life, and I cannot go through with my part, you have one other choice."L offered.

"What's that?"

"Stop it. I know there are others, give me their names and allow them to be brought to justice. I agree that this world would be better with less crime but you are not going about it the right way. If you continue and allow me to live, I don't believe either of us will ever-"

"Like I said, you win. Being a god doesn't mean anything in a world where you don't exist. It took me a while to realize it but I understand now." Light kissed L softly.

"You're the only one that could ever rule over my heart." He whispered. L stared deeply into Light's eyes.

"Swear to me that you will stop, right now."

"I swear it, after that nightmare I had, I just can't-I never want to see you like that. I'll give you anything you need."

"Thank you, in exchange for that information, I will shield you from as much as I can in regard to this case. But please understand that Watari and I never stay in one place long. Once we close the investigation, I can't promise you that we will stay long. You and I cannot-"

"well then, we'll enjoy the time we have."Light tightened his grip slightly.

"What the hell is going on up here?"Chief Yagami demanded upon seeing the two together.

"Chief Yagami, You will be happy to know that after careful consideration, I have decided to take Light off of the suspect list." L announced.

"It's about damn time." Light's father grumbled.

"You're sure?" Watari asked in his usual tone.

"I am. "

"Alright, if you're absolutely sure." The old man replied. "Now can you explain to me what Light is doing with you?"Light smiled.

"Should we tell them?" He asked. L nodded.

"Dad, I know it might be hard for you, but I love Ryuzaki, I realized what my feelings were just recently. I know we've had our problems, but he's amazing and I hope we can move past all this now."

"And you L, do you love him as well?" Watari asked before Mr. Yagami could say a word.

"Yes Watari, I do. Are you upset with me?"The detective inquired.

"Can you look into my eyes and tell me that Light makes you truly happy and that this is what you want?" L lifted his head to look into his handler's eyes.

"Watari, Light makes me happy, I want this. I don't want to lose you, if this is not something-"

"My dear boy, how could I possibly be upset, all I've ever wanted for you is for you to be safe, happy and healthy. I'm not going to go anywhere, I will love you no matter what." L gave a faint smile.

"dad, are you okay with this?" The chief sighed heavily.

"As a father, I want the very best for you and your sister. I'm not convinced that this is it, after everything you've been put through. However, you're old enough to make that choice for yourself and I need to let you do that. I can't exactly stop you if you feel that L is what is important to you, your mother and I have always stood behind you and this won't be any different."

"Thank you, that means a lot to me."

"Good. Now, we still have some work to do. Can I possibly persuade the two of you to come inside and help us?"

"Of course, Watari. Light are you still with us?" Light nodded.

"Always." The brown haired man said as the group made their way back inside.
