The 8"inch Figures look good, but I'll wait for the 6"inch figures of Classics Lion-O & Mumm-ra, because of shelf space in my opinion.

They're gits. I like larger figures and that six inch Lion-O has a stupid face.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dragonrider1227 In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-12 21:54:34 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I don't care for the face myself.
A lot of people were complaining that they were too big and weren't compatible with their other toy lines (mainly Masters of the Universe classic)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Carnivius In reply to Dragonrider1227 [2011-12-12 22:07:31 +0000 UTC]

Compatible with other toylines? What a dumb reason. They shouldn't have to be 'compatible' with other toylines unless people are into stupid fan-fiction garbage. One reason I liked ThunderCats toys when I was a kid was because they were larger and chunkier than stuff like Star Wars and GI Joe figures.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dragonrider1227 In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-12 22:40:13 +0000 UTC]

I can kinda understand though because they would look so off when you display them with the rest of your collection and people like me also like to take photos of their toys together and the 8" scale made it awkward. The scale also made them bigger than the old toys thus, making them incompatible with the old playsets and vehicles.

Carnivius In reply to Dragonrider1227 [2011-12-13 06:34:20 +0000 UTC]

Real problem though is the fact lots of people have now bought these excellent looking eight inch figures (including the comic con variant of Lion-O) which are now going to be totally incomplete in anyone's collection. If they'd just started with only 6 inch figures from the start or continued these 8 inch ones alongside the 6 inch ones there wouldn't be a problem. These 8 inch ones are now going to look very lonely and these are the ones that are out in stores right now being bought up for christmas and everything.

Dragonrider1227 In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-14 00:25:01 +0000 UTC]

They should've just started with the 6 inch ones. I can't believe they thought 8" was a good idea. that's even bigger than the original toys X_X

Carnivius In reply to Dragonrider1227 [2011-12-13 06:31:15 +0000 UTC]

Actually most of my current figures are quite large. RoboCop, Ryu from Street Fighter IV. I think the smallest figure I have is Batman from the The Dark Knight and he's even a bit smaller than my Doctor Who figures. I don't really care about scale with totally unrelated toylines. Heck, I have Transformers and they're totally out of scale with EACH OTHER

Wow, they actually have Classics T'Cats figures in regular stores then? Thought that might be a bit of a niche item. I'll just get Lion-O for now anyways. Don't need a huge collection. Just my fave characters from various things...though I'll like to see how Cheetara turns out. rawr. I see Lion-O on ebay for £15 plus a couple pounds postage

CyberDrone In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-09 21:05:21 +0000 UTC]

I don't know if the Forbidden planet ones are different. But these Lion-O figure is great! It's like the one i always wanted from the old toys. The eBay ones sounds right! Hopefully they will release some more. and Cheetara would be a must get! Have you seen the new series! Been really enjoying it. Thinks Channel 5 is going to show it over Christmas.

Carnivius In reply to CyberDrone [2011-12-09 21:08:36 +0000 UTC]

I don't like the new show at all to be honest. I don't like the anime look or the character designs (lion-o in particular looks ridiculous, why is his hair so flowery looking) and I just don't like the tone or atmosphere of the show. It's got none of the charm I loved about the old show at all. I gave it a proper go with the first five or six episodes and gave up on it. I'm just interested in these classics toys, not the new ones. LIke you say, these classics are the toys we wished we'd had when we were kids but toy technology wasn't there yet

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CyberDrone In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-11 12:17:54 +0000 UTC]

Well I like anime so I like the look of the show. I Thought they changed too much, but in fact it works well on it's own. Still can't beat the classic series though. I will get some of the new series toys at some point. But It's the classic figures I been looking forward too. I would have got the He-Man ones too, but the prices are crazy. Hope they keep releasing the Thundercats classics. Would mind just having the core characters.

Carnivius In reply to CyberDrone [2011-12-11 12:32:40 +0000 UTC]

I like anime but I don't like that kind of anime. I find the designs try to hard to be cool but end up sorta bleh. It's something that's put me off japanese games a lot lately too and preferring western titles. Am a bit pissed off that I finally got around to watching Volume 2 of the classic show I bought four years ago and the discs don't bloody work right. Some episodes skip half way through to the next episode. Argh...

But yeah I want that Lion-O to start of. Shame it doesn't have the rather nice display stand for the small sword that the exclusive Comic Con version does. Also like the cartoon muscle lines on that one too though the metallic paint only looks right on the swords, not his blue costume.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CyberDrone In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-13 16:31:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah the exclusive does look good with the stand. and wish they done the metallic paint on the swords. Very bendy those swords. Do you think you will get your Lion-O before Christmas?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Carnivius In reply to CyberDrone [2011-12-13 17:09:20 +0000 UTC]

Bendy swords on my Bludgeon figure drove me nuts for ages but luckily that thirdparty company released those chromed ones that don't bend, with that new samurai skull head you've seen in my gallery. Stupid kids toys... So many Wolverine figures crippled by having flimsy strands of bendy plastic instead of proper claws.

CyberDrone In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-15 18:06:27 +0000 UTC]

I know! When we were kids, we didn't have many soft plastic toy weapons! We made it though. hehe

Yeah and we had proper smokestacks on our G1 Optimus Prime toys and I don't remember any eyes getting poked out or anything.

CyberDrone In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-16 12:02:11 +0000 UTC]

I never understood why cut the smokestacks becuase of eye poking danger. They still do it.

Have you seen the new Doctor Who Image of the Fendahl figure set?

Carnivius In reply to CyberDrone [2011-12-16 16:23:18 +0000 UTC]

Another Leela? There WERE other classic companions weren't there? Wasn't just Leela and Peri for all those decades... Still the creatures look good. Oh and damn good news finding two lost classic episodes, eh?

Just got my Lion-O figure. Bloody hell. The size is just awesome and I'm just freaking out that I finally have a superb and heavily articulated figure of one of my all time favorite cartoon characters. Your photo as nice as it is just didn't do it justice. I loves it. And DAMN them that they aren't gonna do the whole team in this size anymore. Bastards. I'm unsure about whether to get Tygra now. As much as I'm sure I'd like it, he'd look odd if the others weren't there too whereas Lion-O on his own at least looks like he represents the whole franchise on my shelf.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CyberDrone In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-18 21:13:21 +0000 UTC]

hehe They Do love Leela and Peri! Maybe we will get 2 classic companions a year re-released to hell? and yeah great about 2 more classic eps found! only 106 to go!

It's so annyoing they are going to release them again in a smaller scale. I don't like the face on the Lion-O.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Carnivius In reply to CyberDrone [2011-12-18 21:23:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the RAAAGH face only works if it's an alternate head you can swap for a neutral face.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CyberDrone In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-21 13:02:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah as a spare head it would be great! But not very good on its own. I've had and still have the crappest internet speed for the last couple of days again! 21kps. These internet speed monkeys are still not pedaling fast enough. hehe

Carnivius In reply to CyberDrone [2011-12-23 21:10:34 +0000 UTC]

Thing about that Lion-O head is he never really even has that expression in the show ever at all anyways

I'm on my own for 2nd year running. But at least I have a present this year. I can tell it's a book but no idea what it's about til I unwrap it tomorrow. Have a good time too, buddy. I doubt there's any toys in existence you haven't already filled every inch of your house with...

So what did you think of the Xmas episode of Doctor Who?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Carnivius In reply to CyberDrone [2011-12-27 18:04:55 +0000 UTC]

Really enjoyed it. Beautifully made and very sweet. Smith again is just superb and I liked the other characters too. Already ordered the Blu Ray like I did with last year's too.

By the way I'm tempted to get that Cyberverse Ark playset. It's only £20 now from some places and it's quite a fun toy with lots of lights and sounds.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CyberDrone In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-29 19:06:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I've been thinking of getting the Cyberverse Ark for £20. Been eyeing it for a while now! Seen any other good bargains?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Carnivius In reply to CyberDrone [2011-12-29 19:25:18 +0000 UTC]

Dunno.

I'd really like this Tekkaman Blade figure [link] cos I'm a big fan of the dubbed version called Teknoman (the international version rather than the stripped down US dub. Had mostly the same voice cast but the US version has less episode and they call Blade, Slade for some stupid reason). Used to be on Fox Kids back in the mid 90's and I have the video files now too. here be the intro to the US version [link] Anyways if I'd been working for a while now and built up some savings I'd buy that figure in a second. At moment I can't justify £80 for one toy when I need to get driving lessons but damn I hope it's still available in a year or so. That would go on my childhood faves shelf with my RoboCop, Lion-O and other such nostalgic awesomeness.

Also really like this Christopher Reeve Superman figure [link] but again so expensive. Man, he really was the perfect Superman.

This freaks me out. FLOATING MEGATRON HEAD IS EATING THAT CHILD! [link]

But yeah I may still get that Ark. It makes a great display piece and at £20 it's much more tempting than before. You've already got Sentinel Prime haven't you? He's a little big to actually fit inside the cockpit apparently but still it's his ship and he should have it. The info bit at TFWiki.net [link] describes some of it's features.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CyberDrone In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-30 15:25:10 +0000 UTC]

I remember Teknoman! Never watched to though. Kept meaning to as it looked good. Does look a cool figure. And yep to me Chris Reeve's superman if the perfect version.

Yep Still got Sentinal Prime. He will go or be next to the Ark when i get it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Carnivius In reply to CyberDrone [2011-12-30 15:44:25 +0000 UTC]

I'm rewatching Teknoman now. Forgotten how dark it was for a show at 6pm on Fox Kids. Also there's a brief glimpse of nipples on Blade's sister before she dies horribly. Don't remember if Fox Kids caught the nipples though they did leave her death intact.

Still tempted to get that Ark. I'm supposed to not be buying too many more figures but I do like it. And the good thing about the Cyberverse scale is it's not too expensive to build up a group of Autobots Vs Decepticons. I was tempted to buy Commander Class Guzzle the other day as I like how he looks too. [link] Certainly been working out since he was a G1 Sparkabot eh? Also I like that the Ark is similar in a way to the G1 Micromaster Countdown rocket base (which I had) in that it's the main playset you can connect all the other smaller sets too. All the Cyberverse vehicle/bases can connect to it. It's nice that Hasbro brought that idea back.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CyberDrone In reply to Carnivius [2011-12-30 15:55:06 +0000 UTC]

hehe No i can't see Fox Kids showing animated nipples! But who know it may have slipped past them.

Yeah you can get a nice little army with the smaller figures. I've not seen many of the Cyberverse sets around in shops. Just the Ark, Bumblebee and Starcream sets. I thought there was going to be a Prime with Trailer.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Carnivius In reply to CyberDrone [2011-12-30 16:07:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah there's;
Bumblebee's Mobile Battle Bunker [link]
Starscream's Orbital Assault Carrier (one of it's modes is the 'con ships in the movie) [link]
Megatron's Blastwave Weapons Base [link]
Optimus Prime's Armored Weapons Platform (his trailer) [link]
Ratchet's Lunar Crawler (the bottom left mode looks very much like G1 Ratchet's toy repair bay) [link]
Shockwave's Fusion Tank [link]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CyberDrone In reply to Carnivius [2012-01-02 13:15:41 +0000 UTC]

I think they should release the rest of those in the shops. wouldn't mind that little Shockwave. Hasbro is so crap at releasing all the stuff in the UK. Does my nut in!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Carnivius In reply to CyberDrone [2012-01-02 14:00:19 +0000 UTC]

Well it's down to the shops too to order that particular product in. Bumblebee and Starscream are released first to generate interest in that class of toy and if they sell well then the shops can order Hasbro to ship more of that type in.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CyberDrone In reply to Carnivius [2012-01-04 21:15:00 +0000 UTC]

hehe well I think they should ask me what ones the should release! its only fair!

3? Probably Bumblebee & Prime first cos they sell the best and then either Megatron to have a big bad but likely Starscream since his set was actually in the movie.
