My idea for what the Australian flag should look like.There is still a lot of talk of whether Australia should cease to be a Constitutional Monarchy and become a Republic. Personally, I think it's a good idea, as it seems that monarchism is really an outdated concept, and not at all a good model for government.
I opted to keep the Southern Cross, so as to keep it familiar, but I got rid of the Union Jack. I used a triangle, as it symbolises growth and prosperity, with the Commonwealth star in the centre. And I thought, what the hell, I might as well include our national cricket colours.
Also, it could double as a flag for a Pacific Union, should one ever be formed.

As for if we should become a Republic, I don't exactly support it, because I don't see what exact harm the Queen is doing to us right now, so why should we fully separate from her? But in the end, I guess it's all an opinion

I'm 1/2 Australian, so you can imagine that even if it's old, it still evokes some sort of patriotism within me.

Well, I'm all-Aussie, and I'm also a Republican, so in any case I feel more loyalty to this flag that I made myself than the Union Jack.

Cool flag. My flag would look something like this. It is diagonally divided into two with the southern cross on the lower right section on a blue background and the other section has a golden silhouette of a kangaroo on a green background. It's not much but it sounds like a cool idea.
