2262. After nearly sixty years of service, the U.S.S. Montavista's engines power down for the last time. The docommissioning of the vessel signals the end of an era. The phase out process the Bonaventure Class in favor of the Constitution Class is now complete.The Bonaventure Class served as the successful testbed for the experimental Warp 8 Drive. Its fundamental design becoming standard on all future vessels.

Β I always thought that the Bonaventure (or at least this one) was an ugly, ungainly looking ship, and yet I still consider her to be semi-canon. Go figure.
Β Still, she and everything else is rendered nicely, which makes her look good. Well, at least as good as she can. That, and we don't see the Bonaventure much, so she is a nice change of pace.

So what happened to Rick Sternbach's Baton Rouge class as warp 8 testbed? The bonaventure was a single hull ship like the intrepid and the enterprise (nx)

There are a LOT of continuity errors in Star Trek. This is the canon Bonaventure design and appeared on Star Trek TAS Episode "The Time Warp". It was the first ship with warp drive installed.

No worries, sorry about any misunderstanding but I never watched the animated series. The single hull Bonadventure that I referred to was a Rick Sternback sketch for a desktop model for inclusion in a ST:TNG episode.
