Description
(French: Arènes d'Arles)The ampitheatre was built in 90 AD. The structure was used as a quarry following the fall of the Roman Empire and lost much, including the third tier of arcades. The square towers (one on each cardinal direction) were added in the 6th century when it was used as a fortification by the town.
