Yes! I'm not the first one to get the idea to use catchers gear for some of the armor.Β

It worked! Sadly I hate how it looked, so I've actually sealed it into one solid unit that's more game-accurate since then

Ah well..that sounds like a good Idea. did you glue it together? I was going to attempt a Kaidan build this year, my first armor ever, but finances are getting in the way so I'm can't afford the foam or anything right now.Β

It is very expensive. In my opinion, make it from scratch- less bulk to build around.

ah...well I'm not really completely sold no keeping it as in game as possible. I like to think that the crew may have added in their own touches. So if it's a bit off but works out for comfort and everything as well. I'd say it's a job well done.Β

That's true. Still, I dislike things being noticeably made from something else- but hey, that's just me.

Here's a picture of turning it into a solid chassis- this picture was just taken at a Pride parade a few days ago, as you can probably see it looks far more canon now and has been slimmed down a lot, as well as rebuilt in plastic. I have an entire build thread chronologued of how I put the armor together.

And here's the rebuilt shinguards. I like these ones much more- the ones using umpire bases ended up being incredibly chunky and hard to maneuver in, as well as looking like- well, umpire shinguards.

ah cool. I have some catcher ones. Not a bad job at all man! I'm about to get a work space here shortly and a big bonus so that'll go into building my costume stuff. Nothing in time for PAX Prime, but hey ya never know right?Β

Thanks! I took a few artistic liberties for sake of mobility and.. well, less ugliness, but it turned out okay.

Your artistic liberties were well chosen.
I aspire to be able to make armor this well one day.

Thanks! That was the easy part, just sort of quickly blackwashed it the night before the convention.

Wow really?
Thats impressive (^-^)
I've wanted to make my own armor but I am always busy and it seems hard too make.

Well, there was a lot of drybrushing and sponging too, but it was the easy part.
It's not TOO bad when you get in the swing of things- it's definitely pretty grueling at first with all the trial and error, but when you get the hang of it your speed and the quality quadruples.

If you ever feel like it, I'll send you a link to the build folder chronologuing it- if you've any questions feel free to ask as well.
