Jake Pitts, Black Veil Brides, lead guitarHappy Birthday to Jake! Aug 21
The second in a series of portraits commissioned by BVB.
The acrylic/oil paintings are each 24x36 and painted by me without any background. The backgrounds you see here are done by me in Photoshop as comps for the final artwork. BVB and BandMerch were kind enough to allow me to display these images as part of my portfolio, and these may not be copied or reproduced in any way.
This was the first time I really had hi-res photos to work with!

actually this was the first picture I had seen XD
I never really paid attention to his teeth. I just like his over all attitude.

It almost killed me! All those stupid safety pins...I thought I'd lose mind! I developed my own technique for doing shiny metal stuff, but it was still really time-consuming!

No, I wish! The album was already "wrapped" when I met them...the STWOF cover is a digital paint

The booklet? yeah, they gave me big photos of that to use as inspiration, but if you look close, those are digital paintings and the fire is photoshopped (obviously they didn't light the guys on fire) Cool, though! And I wish I had done those! I did work as realistically as I could, knowing that's what they liked/wanted

I never realised until now that it was digital artwork...and lighting themselves on fire would be a bit...painful XD
Amazing artwork still, and I'd love to see the pics from the photoshoot - but that will probably never happen >.<

unless BVB has them out by now..somewhere...it was a famous photographer, Estrada, I think? I'm not allowed to put them anywhere, either...and they're gorgeous, but totally on all white backgrounds. I had to "invent" an apocalyptic background
