Description

"Alright, so...I said I would show you something my sister can't do, right ?  But I know what you're probably thinking: my sister and I are twins, so...if SHE'S a dullahan, then I must be one too, right?  Well...not exactly.  I mean...yes, I'm a Fae just like she is, but...dullahans aren't the ONLY type of Fae, you know.  Here, let me show you what I'm talking about!

*WHOOSH*

"I bet you weren't expecting THAT, were you?  I mean, I get it...it's pretty obvious you've never seen a faerie before...and I'm guessing you don't know much about what we can do, either.  Well, in that case...why don't I tell you a little bit about us faeries, then!"

"So...as you've already seen, faeries are a type of Fae capable of magically 'sprouting' a pair of insect-like wings from our backs.  Naturally, these wings grant us faeries the ability to fly!  Of course, there's so much more I could tell you about them...like how they're actually made of pure mystical energy...or how we can simply 'summon' and 'dismiss' them at will...or how we use them to-"

"...Oh, right...you probably wanna hear about more than just my wings, don't you?  Well...like all Fae, us faeries are also capable of using magic.  But while dullahans (like my sister) are able to manipulate reality with spatial magic, faeries (like myself) can alter time itself with temporal magic.  This lets us do things like speed up, slow down, or even temporarily stop the flow of time to an object or person.  Sure, it may not be as 'flashy' as my sister's magic, but it still has some practical uses...like, if my sister's trying to steal my head (which happens pretty much every day), I can always use my magic to 'stop' her for a few seconds and-"

"...Oh, that's right!  I was going to show you the 'gift' Lauren gave us!  Hmm...you know, I usually don't do this while flying, but...well, I'm only hovering a few inches off the ground, so....I guess it'll be ok.  Alright, then...here we go!

*POP*

"So, when Lauren first told me she was a dullahan, I actually thought it was just another one of her pranks.  I mean, everyone in our family has been faeries for generations...so naturally I just assumed we'd both be faeries as well.  But then she reached up, grabbed hold of her head, and actually detached it from her body!  I'll admit, it was a bit surprising at first to see my sister holding her own disembodied head...but the more we talked about her being a dullahan, the more obvious it was to me that she was actually ENJOYING being 'headless.'  And if I'm being honest, I, um...I was actually happy for her, because...well, I knew that she, um...she never wanted to be a faerie, you know?  Growing up, she'd always tell me that if she had HER way, she'd choose to be a dullahan 'cause she thought it'd be cool to literally hold her head in her hands.  Of course, neither of us actually thought it would happen, but...well...somehow it did."

"Anyways, I was still getting used to the fact that my sister was actually a dullahan when she asked me something completely unexpected: she asked if I wanted to take MY head off as well, which left me completely speechless.  I mean, I'm a faerie, not a dullahan...so there's no way I could do that, right?  Of course, that's when Lauren explained that by using a specialized form of spatial magic, she could actually give me the ability to detach my head from my body...if I was OK with accepting her 'gift,' that is."

"Honestly, it didn't take me long to make a decision...I mean, I'd already seen how much my sister was enjoying being headless, and I thought it'd be fun to give it a try, you know?  So a few minutes later, Lauren used the spell on me, and I soon found myself holding my own disembodied head!  I'll admit, it was a bit disorienting at first, but surprisingly I adapted to my new situation pretty quickly...I'm guessing that's because of my own experiences with magic.  And now that I've had a little bit of time to play around with this new ability, I'm starting to understand why she enjoys being 'headless' so much...it's actually pretty fun once you get used to it!"
