this is my second commission of Kaelen, you may remember him from the first round i did here: Kaelen Char Design .a few major differences however, as the goddess Eilistraee was cut down, all willing Drow were changed into dark elves and brought into the light. Kaelen is one such Dark Elf now, with his skin lightening to chocolate and hair blackening. he has also developed some new magic, hence the blue fire wings and spellcasting. anyways, that's all i know about this character so please enjoy

I must admit, this is my favorite piece that I've had commissioned so far (though Kaelen himself is my favorite character in general, so that's not such a surprise). The concept, in my own head, was inspired by an image Anna did some time back with the amazingly beautiful Xull'rae Zauvirr. With some big changes in Kaelen's storyline recently, I couldn't help but image this as a counterpoint to the Xull'rae image, especially how opposite the two characters seem to be. Kaelen, a bladesinger who worships Eilistraee, and who was cleansed of the curse that made him drow, and Xull'rae, a priestess of Lolth and Vhaeraun. I was excited just thinking about it, and I can tell Anna was just as excited about it by looking at the amazing job she did with just the simple description I sent.
For those that want a little taste of who this guy is...he was one of the goddess Eilistraee's Chosen, one of her champions, leading up to her death. Left alone with a daughter to raise, his wife having died in childbirth at the moment of Eilistraee's fall, he resided in the renewed city of Myth Drannor until an event known as the Spellplague occurred. Trapped in a sort of stasis for 94 years, he woke in a place far from where he used to call home, with that glowing mark upon his arm. That's about where things stand now, and I'll be fleshing out that chapter of his story eventually. For now, the Darksong Chronicles, my series of short stories based around him, will delve more into his history before all of that, so I hope people enjoy them

Beautiful effects, I love his eyes and the serene yet simultaneously powerful look on his face. Interesting little back-story there too, makes me want to learn more about the character.

Well, you might be interested to know, then, that I have a little project in the works revolving around that character entitled "The Darksong Chronicles". I thought it was all drow of that certain bloodline that were changed, and not just willing drow?

I believe you may be right with the certain bloodline, but Drow are still around since Lolth is around so i'm not entirely sure. detail details

If I remember right, it was just the one bloodline that reverted back to being "dark elves". Those not of that bloodline remained drow. It's been a few months since I've read that series, but I truly enjoyed it. Makes me want to purchase the 4th edition Forgotten Realms book, just for the story line.
