Velma got a raw deal in that version. In most versions Shaggy may be cowardly and goofy but he'd never be stupid enough to dump Velma in favor of Scooby. In most versions Shaggy would have just enough courage to lay down the law that he loved them both and would not let one ruin his relationship with the other.

Velma was always my favorite
I'm pretty darn sure she was my first lesbian crush actually...
and when they started to change the way to split up in the old cartoons (Fred and Daphné, while Shaggy Scooby and Velma went their way)
I started to like the idea of Shaggy and Velma together
needless to say, I fangasmed at this show XD

I love the bows and I was watching the episode where they go to Gatorsburg and Daphne asked what she had done to her hair. They made Velma more girly than before. I just love how they revamped everyone. And the realtionships.

Since the the show began in 1969, Velma always had softside for Shaggy! Now she realizes the love for him grew into something more!
