Hey there, True Believers! D34DP00LF4N here with my first upload of 2024, and a different kind of list 😁

For this list, we’re looking at all the movies I saw from 2023 Ranked from Worst to Best

Now, before we get started, let’s get a couple things out of the way

Firstly, I didn’t see that many movies from last year. Some movies didn’t catch my interest, like Oppenheimer or Killers of the Flower Moon (I’m sure they’re great, but those simply aren’t my kind of movies 😅), some movies I didn’t get a chance to see (Godzilla Minus-One and The Boy and The Heron aren’t available for me yet 😓), and some movies I flat out refuse to watch (lookin at you, The Flash and Spider-Man Lotus 😑)

Secondly, I’m not gonna go into HUGE details on some of these like most of my yearly lists (mainly cuz this is the 4th huge list I’ve made in just a couple weeks 😅), nor will I be giving scores, but I’ll still give my best thoughts on these

Lastly, and most importantly, this list is MY OPINION. If you disagree with any spots on this list, that’s perfectly fine. Just PLEASE be respectful 👍 (also, I am including indie/fan films, just so I’ve got a bit more variety on here)

From Worst to Best…

Winnie the Pooh: Blood & Honey

Yep. I watched this. And it’s just as awful as LITERALLY EVERYONE has said it is 😑

Power Rangers: Once & Always

Honestly… the only reason this isn’t my least favorite is because of Blood & Honey. The acting wasn’t good, I didn’t care about the story, the timing of its release was terrible 😓

(Thankfully, those were the only movies I can genuinely say I didn’t like)

Five Nights At Freddy’s

As someone who’s never played a FNAF game, I wasn’t too sure about this adaptation, and after watching it, I can say… it’s ok, but I was hoping I’d like it more than I did 😅. I won’t spoil anything, but I will say that this movie definitely feels like it was made for fans of the FNAF series. It’s not a bad movie at all… but personally, I had more fun with Willy’s Wonderland 🤣

Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken

One of Dreamworks’s latest movies, and while it’s definitely a step down from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, I personally wouldn’t call it one of their worst films like most people have said. The story is predictable but harmless enough, the animation isn’t bad, and most of the characters are decent. I will say that if you’re planning to watch it, DON’T WATCH THE TRAILER. It literally spoils the entire movie

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

My first Transformers movie in years (I still haven’t seen Bumblebee), and while it’s definitely not a complex movie, it was honestly really fun. The action was cool, it actually had funny scenes, and it actually felt like Transformers. If you want a fun “turn-your-brain-off” movie, this’ll be for you 🙂👍

ORK

This is a short Tokusatsu indie film on YouTube, and for only being 45 minutes and shot entirely on iPhone, it’s a genuinely impressive movie. The acting and fights are really good, and the story is interesting. If you get a chance, follow these guys on YouTube and Twitter 🙂

Never Hike Alone 2

This is a sequel to the Friday the 13th fan film, Never Hike Alone, and much like the first, it feels like a genuine love letter to the franchise… and probably the closest thing we’ll get to a new Friday movie 😅

Emesis Blue

A Team Fortress 2 psychological thriller made in SFM, and it’s genuinely unnerving and interesting how it gives Lore to the respawn mechanic

Shin Kamen Rider

I finally watched another piece of Kamen Rider media 😅. This is a condensed reimagining of the original Kamen Rider series, and it’s really good. The fights and suits were really cool, the acting was good, and it actually makes me wanna watch the original series… if I wasn’t already on a journey with One Piece 😅

Scream 6

The latest Scream movie, and while it did have a pretty rocky start, it’s definitely one of my favorites in the franchise 😁 (and judging by certain behind-the-scenes problems, it might be the last one I see 😓)

Blue Beetle

I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical about this, especially with how much the DCEU (and comic book movies in general) had been flopping lately, but Blue Beetle is one of my favorites, so I gave this a shot, and I honestly really liked. Jaime/Blue Beetle himself was a great character, the action and special effects were really cool, and it was actually really fun 😄

Justice League X RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen Parts 1 & 2

Ok, I’ll admit, my bias for RWBY is a little a play here, but am I really the only one who doesn’t get the hate for these movies? Yes, they’re random and convoluted as hell, but I honestly enjoyed them. I got to see one of my favorite shows of all time cross over with some of my favorite Superheroes of all time 😁. Personally, though, I REALLY recommend watching all of RWBY before watching these, cuz they kinda spoil the latest seasons 😅

M3GAN

As someone who’s recently become a fan of the Child’s Play franchise, this movie had my eye all year, and after finally watching it this past weekend, it definitely deserves the hype it’s received 😁. For a PG-13 Horror movie, it’s pretty brutal, and M3GAN herself is honestly creepy. Half the time, I couldn’t tell if she was an actress or an animatronic 😅. And there’s rumors of a potential M3GAN vs Chucky project in the near future, so if you’re interested, give this a shot 😉

Suzume

Makoto Shinkai’s latest movie, and while the story and characters didn’t grip me quite as much as Your Name (Kimi no Na wa), it’s still a VERY beautiful Anime movie 😁

The Super Mario Bros Movie

This is another movie I was initially skeptical on, especially when the cast was revealed, but as the trailers and reviews came out, I actually got excited for it. And after watching it last month… I was very pleasantly surprised. The animation was fantastic, and it was just a genuinely fun love letter to fans of the franchise. Plus, Chris Pratt was surprisingly good at playing Mario 😁 (unlike Garfield 😑)

Leo

I’d watched this with my family on vacation, and it was really fun, hilarious, and charming. It really reminded me of Up, and I’d honestly say that it’s one of Adam Sandler’s best movies 😁

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget

Probably the most unexpected sequel of last year, and while I don’t think I like it as much as the original movie (which is one of mine and my Mom’s favorite Dreamworks movies), I’d still say it’s a fun time, and a very pleasant surprise for a sequel 🙂 (plus, the stop motion is still top notch 😁)

Evil Dead Rise

My first Evil Dead movie… and good JEEBUS, what a first impression it left 🤣🤣🤣

Elemental

I’ll admit, I was a bit wary on this movie, especially with how Pixar marketed it, but after watching it myself (plus, a recommendation from my Bro rainbine94 / Rain-Fireheart ), it’s really great. In fact, the more I think about it… it’s become one of my favorite Pixar movies 😁. The animation is amazing, and the romance between Wade and Ember is adorable 😊

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. This is officially the Era of D&D Adaptations. I’ve seen this movie twice in theaters, and it was great both times. It really felt like the fantasy version of Guardians of the Galaxy 😁

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

As I’ve said before, this is up there with the Rise movie as my favorite TMNT movie. The animation was fantastic, and I loved that the Turtles were FINALLY played by teenagers, and felt like them. The sequel can’t get here soon enough 😁

Nimona

The fact this movie even exists after Blue Sky Studios got shut down is amazing on its own, but even if you disregard that, this movie deserves every ounce of hype. Like D&D, I’ve seen it twice, and each time was great. The animation is amazing, Nimona themself is a character of pure chaos (and I love that XD), and it even has fantastic LGBT representation and themes. This has truly taken the spot as my favorite Blue Sky movie 😁

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The first Guardians movie may be my favorite of the MCU… and this emotional rollercoaster of a send-off to the trilogy is WAY up there with it 🥹

John Wick Chapter 4

John Wick… is gonna go down in history… as one of the GREATEST FRANCHISES OF ALL TIME 🤩! EVERY movie is better than the last, and this is arguably the BEST of all 4 movies. The action, the settings, the writing, the MUSIC. EVERYTHING about this movie was amazing. I know there’s a 5th movie coming one day, but without giving spoilers, this is where the franchise ends for me. PLEASE GO WATCH THESE MOVIES 😂

And my favorite movie- Oh, come on, you knew what the hell it was gonna be 🤣

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

I finally watched this sequel just a couple days ago… and I don’t know where to even begin with this movie. Into the Spider-Verse was already my favorite animated movie of all time… but this movie… surpassed it in EVERY WAY 🤩. The animation was PHENOMENAL, the plot was genuinely engaging (I literally didn’t look away the whole time), Miles Morales FURTHER cementing himself as my favorite Spider-Man, all of the other variations of Spider-Man, and good lord… the ENDING… I won’t spoil anything… but I couldn’t be more HYPED for Beyond the Spider-Verse 🤩🤩🤩

And that is why Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is not only my favorite movie from 2023… it has taken the title as my favorite animated movie… and is even neck-and-neck with Hellboy 1 & 2… as my favorite movie, PERIOD 😁

So, that’s every movie I watched from 2023 ranked. I had more I wanted to see, but honestly, after this, I’m gonna be done with movies for a bit 😅
