Description What Is This?
I was asked by many about my musical influences when making stamps and asked to share some of the stories behind the concerts I have seen. I have been to 1200+ live concerts (all national touring bands/singers with albums, not local club bands or tribute/cover bands, have seen plenty of those too) and have saved every ticket stub and backstage pass (when I had one) and kept notes (like a journal) on every show I have ever seen. So from time to time I will scan in the ticket stub from a show I saw (going in no order, skipping around) and talk a little about the show and my opinion. All information property of dA--stamps/dA--bogeyman (me). This is entry#16.

The Concert:
Pink Floyd
(No Opening Act)
June 6, 1994
Syracuse University Carrier Dome, Syracuse, New York (USA)

Just So You Know:
Pink Floyd was touring in support of their 'The Division Bell' album ("The Division Bell World Tour") and the live video and album 'Pulse' were recorded on this tour. This would be the final Pink Floyd tour (Pink Floyd will never tour again in any configuration).

Personal:
I had seen Pink Floyd in 1987 on the "Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour" and thought they were amazing in concert so when they came again seven years later on a new tour I got tickets to see them again. I ended up going with my sisters then boyfriend Scott who had never seen Pink Floyd before and really liked them. The day of the show a local rock radio station played only Pink Floyd songs all day and flew a giant size pig balloon that had "Pink Floyd" on it (like the size of a blimp) over the dome arena where the concert was being held and it was sweet.

The Live Concert (Opener):
There was no opening band for this show.

The Live Concert (Headliner):
Pink Floyd are legendary live performers and never disappointed me both times I saw them live. They played two sets on this night with a brief 15-20 minute intermission in-between the sets. I will list the tunes then talk about the show, here is the song list (in order) from this concert : "Astronomy Domine", "Learning To Fly", "What Do You Want From Me", "On The Turning Away", "Take It Back", "Coming Back To Life", "Sorrow", "Keep Talking", "One of These Days" - then the intermission - "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (extended concert version, 5 parts), "Breathe", "Time", "Breathe" (Reprise), "High Hopes", "Great Gig in the Sky", "Wish You Were Here", "Us And Them", "Money", "Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)", "Comfortably Numb" - two sets over and then two encores - "Hey You" and "Run Like Hell". Pink Floyd sang 22 songs and played for about two and a half hours total that night. Awesome! On stage there were plenty of screens showing parts of the videos and images of each song. There was one large circular screen in the center of the stage (similar to the 1987 tour) that spotlights and laser lights were attached to for extra effect. Pink Floyd had an amazing spectacle of a laser light show that is second to none. During "One Of These Days" they had large inflatable floating pigs and bulls above the large side speakers with laser lights shooting out of their eyes and they said the intro of the song "One of these days I´m going to cut you into little pieces!" and the crowd went crazy as the inflatable floating pigs and bulls danced above the speakers and Pink Floyd played this instrumental jam song (you really had to see this, hard to explain). Pink Floyd's signature quadraphonic sound system is unreal and makes for a super fantastic concert experience. The lighting rig and display was massive and so was the stage, Pink Floyd never does anything in a small way LOL. David Gilmour's voice sounded perfect that night and Richard Wright's voice also sounded great (sadly he is deceased now). Nick Mason on drums and percussion was masterful and he received a great response from the crowd. Pink Floyd had a large entourage of secondary musicians with them who all performed perfectly and helped make this concert a unique once in a lifetime event.
