Description We are the rumble at night
The fear instilled in you
Making you tremble at the dark
Racing home on poorly lit streets

We are the daily messengers
Calling across the bright sky
Carolling in the thick brush
Invisible joy wrapped warm in feathers

We are the caged beasts
Protesting for food and water
Occasionally overwhelmed by freedom
The dwellers of full-carpeted basements

We are the neighbourly friend
The eager, sloppy romantic
Nothing but hugs and kisses
Pleading for just one more game of catch

However – most of all – we are the spirit
The essence that holds the world strong
The rhythmic beat of the Earth's heart
The bread and butter of sea, sky and landscape
Without us there is no wilderness
There is no passion and soul
There is no life

So help conserve what is natural
Protect what runs on breath and blood
For nothing is infinite if we choose
To torture, mutilate and rub in the mud
