awwwwwwwwwww how fun you guys must be

I remember my grandma in her last year became kinda like the grandma in the movie after she got amnesia, but she wasn't speaking about any enemy or anything. but every once in a while she'd think she went to Greece for some reson XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tyche-Pasithea In reply to Daciah [2010-04-30 22:23:45 +0000 UTC]

Lol, yes maybe too much fun... they don't leave you alone! like ever!

oh your poor grandma! I'm sorry to hear that. Was she recalling past memories perhaps? My grandma didn't have amnesia or alzheimer's but she stopped telling jokes and being funny like she used to (from fatigue I think). She one of the reasons I stopped speaking greek for a while. When she passed on, I had no one to converse with.

Daciah In reply to Tyche-Pasithea [2010-04-30 22:31:20 +0000 UTC]

my grandma was a very hard person to get near to when she was ok, lots of principles, not too friendly, and when she had her illness, she became this lovely, lovely, funny person XDD my mother was like "I wish she had this illness when I married your dad" (she lived together with my mom&dad so she was trouble sometimes XD) yeah she'd go back and forth with her memories and she has traveled to a few places, but never to Greece to my knowledge

btw on a random note; I'm still watching the show with the 'nanny' and apparently she named her twins Greek names ahaha XD Ares & Artemis or smth like that

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tyche-Pasithea In reply to Daciah [2010-04-30 22:39:24 +0000 UTC]

whoa, thats freaky stuff!
Oh cool, you told me that 'athina' in turkish is 'atena'. Are there other Greco-Roman names that have turkish equivalents? What would Artemis and Ares be?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Daciah In reply to Tyche-Pasithea [2010-04-30 22:59:58 +0000 UTC]

hmm...I dun think we have Turkish equivalents for Greek (people's) names =/ nothing comes to mind really.

we say the names of places slightly different, like; Crete = Girit, Rhodes = Rodos, KhΓos = SakΔ±z, Thessalonica = Selanik.

all I can think of is we have a girl's name 'Helin', which comes from Helen/Hellenic or smth of that nature. we have a famous person here with that name and back in the day, she was pressured to change her name by racists lol but she kept it ^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tyche-Pasithea In reply to Daciah [2010-04-30 23:13:50 +0000 UTC]

Ah, interesting. What about the name the girls name 'Eliz'? Is that from 'Elisabeth' or has it always been a turkish name?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Daciah In reply to Tyche-Pasithea [2010-04-30 23:18:29 +0000 UTC]

I've never heard that name actually. I don't think it's Turkish. sounds like it can be tho. but never heard it. we have 'Yeliz' that is similar, or 'Elif'.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tyche-Pasithea In reply to Daciah [2010-04-30 23:21:13 +0000 UTC]

Well maybe it was Elisabeth. I got it from a Turkish girl I met but she was born in Germany though.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Daciah In reply to Tyche-Pasithea [2010-04-30 23:23:45 +0000 UTC]

ah that might be why. anything Elizabeth-like is Europe originated as far as I know.

Tyche-Pasithea In reply to Daciah [2010-04-30 23:31:18 +0000 UTC]
