Description I had the urge to make a chibi Korea out of nowhere today
n I never drew him before, so I tot this might be a start.

Koreans are one of the rare nations that love Turkey, due to Turkey's big help in the Korean War back in 50's. I still can't forget the sight in world cup '02, every Korean supporter was holding a Turkish flag in Korea vs Turkey game. it was so beautiful

tho it's sad to say that I lost a Korean friend because I love Hetalia =_= he called me names and told me off, was so ugly and unfair..but screw that moron

Turkey & Korea / Hetalia

yeah he lives in US so I assume he only heard the government news n just started hating it right away, without ever researching what it is or anything

n I loove the character of Korea

amserpand In reply to Daciah [2010-10-04 11:39:10 +0000 UTC]

He's so adorable. Korea that is. And in my own fanon, he's actually not a very shallow character and all the antics are his coping with all the not-so-wonderful things that've happened to him. Thus explaining all the...well, things that the Korean gov hated about it. XD

Well, even my dad hates (the actual state, language, culture of) Korea, and he was born there.

I'd suggest force-feeding him hetalia anime without telling him what it is, but that would probably be difficult. XD

Daciah In reply to amserpand [2010-10-04 11:49:24 +0000 UTC]

I dunno if somebody else can do it, it'd be healthy for him, but we don't speak anymore

I know every country has smth painful they went through n none of them is perfect n trying so hard, but we need to be able to laugh at ourselves (and each other up to a point XD) so it'll be a happy life
but I loved Korea for being so funny n energetic I wish he'd be in the anime, would've loved to hear his voice

amserpand In reply to Daciah [2010-10-04 12:21:00 +0000 UTC]

I hope sometime Korea gets into the anime. He'd be sooooo fun and entertaining. And yeah, his voice. Wonder what he'd sound like? Kinda young and upbeat.

Ah, when anime pulls friends apart...*sigh*

that'd be great I wanted to see him groping ppl randomly with a happy face

I can't help but imagine a voice like Ryuichi's from Gravitation if you've seen it

yeah it had a bad affect like that, but helped a big chunk of the world get closer n know about each other XD

pardon me for being sarcastic and cynical, but...

"Koreans are one of the rare nations that love Turkey, due to Turkey's big help in the Korean War back in 50's"?????
That's what Hetalia is trying to show to people around the world!
Although it is true that Koreans are friendly to Turkey, it is NOT because Turkey helped Korea fight against communist army in Korean war! I think you're trying to show that Korea is a flunkyist nation to any country who seems to be either stronger or scary to Koreans. But that's extreme phony, an extreme misconception, and extreme distortion on the characteristics of Korean race and the country Korea. I really hate those people who condemn Korea on purpose for no reason. I do know that there are some bad habits that Koreans(or at least some Koreans) must stop, but there's no reason to completely condemn or distort facts on Korea's ethnicity

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Daciah In reply to bidnajunkeol [2010-06-10 07:01:05 +0000 UTC]

my sentence had nothing to do with Hetalia, it was my feelings from way before Hetalia, and I'm not trying to show them as lame or whatever you think it is by that. it's the last thing I'd think any one to understand from what I wrote in fact.
our soldiers helped them from the heart and they respected that and we love them once again for being grateful. there's nothing wrong or lame about being grateful to a friend. Koreans themselves mention it a lot it's not smth I'm pulling out of my ass. and when you share a past like a war where you fight together, your bond gets stronger. it's only natural, not lame. before the war, the 2 didn't have much relations, it was a starting point for the 2.

👍: 1 ⏩: 0

bidnajunkeol In reply to bidnajunkeol [2010-06-10 05:58:17 +0000 UTC]

and that's why most Koreans hate Hetalia, especially in the fact that it is made by establishmentarian Japanese, therefore having a lot of condemn or distorted facts on Korea's ethnicity

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bidnajunkeol In reply to bidnajunkeol [2010-06-10 06:00:14 +0000 UTC]

you can automatically feel that there are lot weird phonies on Korea when it comes to comics and anime made by establishmentarian Japanese...

YESH! Most of the asian nations are a bit stoic but Korea was happy ALL the time.
But the only thing I don't really like about him is claimming stuff originated from him... THAT SHOULD TOTALLY BE GREECE'S LINE!

Daciah In reply to Tyche-Pasithea [2010-04-30 18:26:03 +0000 UTC]

ahahahahah Greece n Korea should have a catfight on that

lol this reminded me of a tv drama we had here I dunno if you've heard it called Yabanci Damat / Sinora tis Agapis, and there were 2 families one Turkish, one Greek and there's a scene on how hey're fighting to prove which one has better artifacts and artists and so on and so forth, and their kids wanna get married within all this cat-dog fight

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tyche-Pasithea In reply to Daciah [2010-04-30 18:46:25 +0000 UTC]

Lol. Tae Kwan Doh VS Pankration?

I haven't seen many Greek or Turkish dramas (but I had international channels like TRT, ERT and ANT1 once) so I haven't heard of it before. Is it older or pretty new? Sounds interesting!
I'm sure there'd be many humourous moments in cross-culture situations.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Daciah In reply to Tyche-Pasithea [2010-04-30 19:01:40 +0000 UTC]

yeah it was on a different channel. I'm not sure why we're being dumb and not releasing DVDs of the show with english/greek subtitles. so many ppl liked it and a lot of ppl on youtube are begging for english subs 'cos everyone liked the concept so much. (I think it aired from 2004-2007)

it's about a Greek guy and a Turkish girl falling in love, but their parents are having a hard time getting along 'cos the Greek family was deported from Istanbul against their will during the horrible events back in 1955, and the Turkish family had relatives killed in the independence war so they can't let go of their hatred. but the kids do everything they can to be together. it was very emotional and soooo very funny they filmed it in both Turkey and Greece and also the islands. the cross-culture things were killer XD you watch how some things are so similar, and how some are quite different
to me the best part was the racist Greek grandma and racist Turkish grandpa were so against the marriage of their grandkids, they form an allience in order to break them apart XDD but later on in the show, they become attached to each other XDD

sorry that show was so precious to me, I keep talking and talking about it XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tyche-Pasithea In reply to Daciah [2010-04-30 19:15:52 +0000 UTC]

Ah ok, I had those channels from 1999-2002 so I guess I missed it.
Lol, sounds awesome! I guess for me it would be quite touching to watch, I can't wait for it to be subbed. Maybe our world channel here (SBS) will air it sometime soon. Thats how I started watching the Turkish version of 'The Nanny'

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Daciah In reply to Tyche-Pasithea [2010-04-30 19:33:18 +0000 UTC]

I think it was on a Greek channel called smth with "Mega" in it. on ours, it was channel "D". I think "Euro D" is the version that shows in Europe, but I doubt that it would be in Australia. =/

Greece liked that show more than I expected they invited the cast over there for TV appearances and stuff. and the Greek character was very successful I think we loved him so much (played by a Turkish actor tho so his Greek wasn't too fluent. but Greeks commented that they can understand what he's saying ) and the singer Natalia Doussopoulos was in the series as well. I really hope we sub it someday. many ppl from other nations are also interested in watching it so I'm hoping for at least english subs. if I knew how to do that, I'd so do it

lol omg our version of nanny! ahahaha XDD I do like the woman who plays the nanny

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tyche-Pasithea In reply to Daciah [2010-04-30 19:48:22 +0000 UTC]

So I would need satellite tv or something, drat.
Aww thats so nice! Is there a clip on youtube or something when he speaks greek? I'd love to here non greeks speak greek, there was this talk show that had musicians from china playing their native instruments and one of them spoke greek! It was amazing
Oh I know that singer Natalia, only because she sang one of my fav songs as a duet with a turkish male artist
I usually don't know many of the younger greek singers because I prefer the more traditional style music. I might know them if they're really famous or if they've been on eurovision (lol).

Lol I actually prefer her to the American nanny
"Meleeeeeeek!"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Daciah In reply to Tyche-Pasithea [2010-04-30 20:21:44 +0000 UTC]

there's little Greek dialogue starting in the middle of this clip here: [link]

the guy singing in the clip is also a Turkish musician who mostly does Greek music.

and the beginning of this and then about 4:15 : [link]

ehehe I like her better too but a friend of mine is in love with the American one XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tyche-Pasithea In reply to Daciah [2010-04-30 20:33:42 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha, his accent is so cute! He says somethings oddly, but then he pronounces something else perfectly even though you'd think he'd have the most trouble saying it!

Yeah, the rest of the turkish cast was a bit normal, but Melek was heaps entertaining anyway. I don't mind the American nanny (she can get a bit annoying sometimes) and I LOVE the American butler, he's such a b!tch

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Daciah In reply to Tyche-Pasithea [2010-04-30 20:53:07 +0000 UTC]

lol that guy is all sorts of accent in that show;
speaks Greek with an accent, for him being Turkish
speaks Turkish with an accent, for playing a Greek guy
and then speaks English with the Mediterranean accent XD ahahaha

ahahah yeah American butler really was something else
ours was older, but a very good actor who worked for our theater for soo many years, he's just precious XD
yep, Melek just makes u smile for no reason lol actually right now I'm watching that actress on a talk show ahah XDD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tyche-Pasithea In reply to Daciah [2010-04-30 21:10:41 +0000 UTC]

Lol, now i'm trying to imagine a turkish actor/actress playing a greek actor/actress, playing a turkish actor/actress who is acting on a greek tv show/movie playing a turkish character... what accent would he/she have?

Ahh cool, what a coinkidoink! What else is that actress famous for?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Daciah In reply to Tyche-Pasithea [2010-04-30 21:15:14 +0000 UTC]

ok I had a headache reading that sentence ahahahah lol yeah I'd love to see that XDDD

her actual thing is she's a singer. I don't know which one she started as, an actress or singer. but her singing carrier has been much much longer than acting. not my type of music but she's been quite popular here.
