Well the water makes the droplets by cohesive forces (water sticking to itself) and it sticks to the spider web with adhesive forces (water sticking to other things.) It was misting that day so I guess the rain drops landed on it lightly enough to not rip through the web. Since the spider web fibers are rough, it gave something for the water to grab onto.

That's the best explanation I can give with my limited physics background
