you cant edit a TUrkish flag as you wish.. Turkish flag didnt created by someone randomly.. it appeared on floor during our great war.
taht day moon was crescent and had a start next to it and it was reflecting from the blood pool on the ground.. there was so much blood everywhere. so you cant modify our flag like that its disrespectfull for our culture

You have to realize there is something called "Alternate History", and most of the time the person specifically chooses that country because they love them. This also isn't supposed to be taken seriously

I respect Turkey and the flag, but this is not a sign of disrespect but simply a thought about what would Turkey's flag have looked like if it had been taken over by a Soviet government. It's not serious nor political in the least.

Thanks! I understand the conflict, but then, this isn't meant to promote communism or as a sign of disrespect towards Turkey. Yet people will get upset over such things regardless.

ottaman failed to modernize because ottoman didn't exploit anywhere and anybody

One could argue that the reason they failed to modernize was because of their losses in Europe and elsewhere and the need to maintain a strong central authority figure - the Sultan and Caliph - to hold together an Empire of Turks, Arabs, Kurds, Greeks, etc. etc. etc. Modernization is not easy when you are trying to hold onto absolute power.

Urgh... communism...
No... just no...
That flag is so gorgeous. It's sad to see it with a hammer.

I quite like the Turkish flag - although the Northern Cyprus one is more pleasing to my eyes, honestly.

So I decided to create a flag that would be a possible and realistic option for an Ottoman Empire that had held onto most of its territory through the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries and, much like Imperial Russia, had failed to modernize or liberalize its government.

And many Turkish people hates communism...

The last incarnation of the Ottoman Empire's flag and the Republic of Turkey's flag are both very, very similar; only small differences between them. And I am fully aware that the Turks dislike communism: this was more an experiment for my alternate-history story and has absolutely nothing to do with the real world.

Meh. The last few weeks have seen me deal with finals, moving out of my apartment, and then being sick.
I want to do another Alternate History map, but I have a couple of things I need to catch up on first.

Sounds like you've been having fun. Thanks to the windstorm and ice storm we had this school year here in Kentucky, I get out for the summer on the 3rd of June.
Here's a link to the ice storm article on Wikipedia.
