I'm trying to get into LARP myself. Just can't seem to find the right crowd.

I get that. The first LARP I tried was awful. I had fun, but the people weren't very nice, and the atmosphere of the game was really grim. They hated jokes, and they killed me and another guy for trying to initiate something (Because nothing was happening) And they also just didn't care about new folks. I got the impression they'e probably gald I never came back.
So, yeah avoid that kind of thing. The LARP I got to now is much better. Everyone's happy to help each other, especially if you're new. Look for groups like that.
