Look, recently I got to Japan and I bought the whole manga, too, out of fangirling XD
I couldn't understand a word, but I can tell you that the manga covers a longer time span than the anime.
For your joy, in both the manga and the anime Hanzo doesn't die :3
I liked him a lot too! He's portrayed as a villain in the story, but you can tell that he has much more dignity and moral strenght compared to the others. The real villains seem to be Munenori Yagyuu and his son, Jubei.
