Description Fanart of Yaiba (Swordsman?) a different Manga by Gosho Aoyama (still author of Detective Conan)

The drawing/Sketch for this dates back to summer 2005, and I only got around to painting/colouring an enlarged photocopy of it today, while attempting to catch up on my "fanworks in progress".

Was inspired by a fanart of "Emerald" I saw while surfing the net back then...
Am not too knowledgeable yet on the series (but I sure do want to read it!) so I was very intrigued by this "Emerald." (Am not even sure that's her name.)
I presumed at the time she was either: one of Yaiba's opponents, Yaiba's long lost sibling (althought the lost one is more likely to be Yaiba), or Sayaka's opponent in love~ (Sayaka being Yaiba's most eligible love interest...)
::EDIT:: Apparently she's definately not the sister, but some character/opponent who appears later on... Still investigating.

Drew Yaiba from memory I think. He is hard to draw, especially when you try and render his spikey hair realistically. I also made him look older/taller... But I quite liked the sketch...

I hope I didn't ruin it with the paints....
Used finger paints (with a brush) instead of my customary watercolors... I need to buy some more of the later, so...
But it is fun experimenting with finger paints... They tend to leave nice brush marks and force me to work more with the primary colors...

My sister, who read the series, said that Emerald was Yaiba's sister. I don't know whether she is right, but I hope so.

I like the puzzled expression on Emerald's face. And yes, Yaiba looks like Son Goku. XD

Huh? Does that mean they have Yaiba in German in Germany as well as Magic Kaito?

XcD If so, waouh, lucky~
They've only just started publishing Yaiba in France.

Yeah, hope your sister is right too. Will still investigate to be sure ^_- (and am also looking for the name of Yaiba's mom, but heh.)

Thanks -^^-
And is nice to see you around. ^_-
( Have also visited your website too. Is looking nifty. I Wish you luck with your papers! )

I haven't seen Yaiba and Magic Kaito in Germany yet. But my sister found the mangas in Hanoi. XD I had seen the Yaiba manga too, last summer, and found Emerald quite funny. My sister had read the end of Yaiba and told me that Yaiba had to fight against Okita (the one in DC-Conan) who was better, but didn't have the same energy of will or something like that (since Okita only wanted to fight so that he can give up kendo which he had never really liked). And Yaiba's strength of will was the reason why Okita gave up at the end. What a strange ending, huh?

As I'm a bit too lazy, I really need a bit luck with my papers, which are not going to write themselves for me. Thank you.

^___^ ah great.
Have juste found confirmation else where that Emerald wasn't the sister but an ally, but they do look alike XcD
And Yaiba is Fun~ I have the last book in Japanese somewhere, but of course only understand small bits...
It's starting to come out in France, so I'm hopefully gonna read some of it this summer -^^-

And yeah, Okita is lazy (dangit, I want to do a Painting of him and Heiji, but am too lazy too! ;-; )

I think Magic Kaito was pre-published in the magasine Twister, and should be coming out under the title Kaito Kid or something like that in Germany some time this Spring I think :co

Magic Kaito in Germany? I'll search for it. Thanks very much.

So Emerald wasn't the sister??? So my sister must have mistaken her for the sister. Do you know the name of Yaiba's sister?

They are very slow in Germany. I have just found volume 39 of Sazan Aizu. And there is only one volume left. I had to wait for the end for over five years. (faint)

(De nada ^_^)

39 : 5 = around 7...
7 manga a year? That's pretty good, I think :co
About one every two months, neh? ^^
:cD Conan comes out every two months in France now...
Or did, but now we've nearly caught up with the japanese so the publisher had to slow down.
Aheum...

Yaiba's sister Name is "Moroha Kurogane" Thankees to Kentaru for sharing here: [link] age=1#1144595873

And, by the way, I've bought Death at La Fenice to read sometime. ^_^; heh.

Thanks for the link. I've seen the Okita-Moroha-Fanart too. Somehow she looks a bit like Haibara with longer hair. (Hmm, what about an Okita-Ai-pairing???)

Oh, you misunderstood something: after reading Sazan Aizu Vol. 37, I had to wait for 5 years to read vol. 38. Hmmm, seven manga a year... I would be glad if they published Sazan Aizu that fast. I'm not a Sazan Aizu fan, although I find the Pai-Parvati-Yakumo triangle intriguing (as Pai and Parvati are the same person).

Concerning Conan, we've nearly caught up with the japanese version, too. I saw vol. 43 on Saturday.

By the way I have read your comment on my site. XD Of course I'm going to put a link to your page. I've been there for several times, but had problems with the computer in the library. I'll visit it when I have internet at home next month.

Have fun with "Death at La Fenice". It's very different from ENCOUNTER, though.

Whee, thankees! ^_^

And yeah, ouch >_o 5 years in between 2 books is quite a lot... Reminds me of the present publication rate of Bastard! I think the french edition of Evangelion manga took a couple of years between books too.

And yeah, internet at home is a good thing, too. XcD
(And thank you, was planning to enjoy it ^__^)

Painted with fìnger paints? Wow... The shading, their faces and folds of their clothes, everything, that's really well done. Anatomy works perfectly, well chosen colours and so on. Love it.
You're pro ^^

Wow! This is awesome.
Why does that Yaiba remind me of young Goku...?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DagronRat In reply to Minna-chan [2006-04-01 10:17:40 +0000 UTC]

Because they both have spikey hair, are short, strong, stubborn, and slightly (see extremely) ignorant and oblivious to the world around them?

I don't see why~

%although I have drawn Yaiba's face very round. ;;%
