Thanks so much, I didn't really know what I was doing, I just tried to make the sand look as close to actual sand as possible.

The image is good, and the poses look very natural and relaxed (plus their expressions are very much like I'd expect these two to look), but it seems like you didn't use any layers, and that's a shame. The sand has white all throughout it and along all lines, and there are random smudges everywhere. I like the picture overall, but I think you could make better use of the layer option, most paintshops have those.

Dahdtoudi In reply to Yiuokami [2005-06-20 07:32:03 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I figured!! I still haven't really figured out how to use the layer thing yet, but at least it looks alright..... right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yiuokami In reply to Dahdtoudi [2005-06-20 11:25:57 +0000 UTC]

Layer's is quite easy actually, you take one for the lineart, and a few for example for the people, on under that for the beach, and one under that for the sea and under that one for the sky (with alpha channels off course, aka transparancy).
Yeah, it looks alright in any case, as said you did a good job on transferring the characters to the viewers.

Wow! The lineart looks great! You did them so well!! The lineart looks a little smudged, though, did you use any layers to color this?

Well, you have PS 7 or up, right? I'd be happy to give you some tips!

Dahdtoudi In reply to SilverCoils [2005-06-23 05:58:36 +0000 UTC]

I have adobe photoshop elements 3.0, do you have any tips to help me with that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SilverCoils In reply to Dahdtoudi [2005-06-24 17:41:12 +0000 UTC]

Sure! They all work the same way, although Elements is just a downgraded version of the full program. I'll just give you something very basic to start out with! Do you know how to make a new layer? If you do, here's something that can help greatly:
Pull up a clean, ready-to-color lineart in Elements. Make a new layer, and change it from "Normal" to "Multiply". Color away on the new layer! It's like coloring in a coloring book. Tell me if you got it!

Hmm, well, what else would you like to learn?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dahdtoudi In reply to SilverCoils [2005-06-29 04:01:31 +0000 UTC]

Well, lets see... Oh i know, is there a way to use the smudge tool without messing up my original lines, you know, without smudging the black into the knew color I'm using?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SilverCoils In reply to Dahdtoudi [2005-06-29 04:16:21 +0000 UTC]

Well, when you make the new color layer ontop of your lineart, it shouldn't end up smudging the black lines. Perhaps if I made a tutorial it would make things a bit easier to understand

Dahdtoudi In reply to SilverCoils [2005-06-29 04:31:50 +0000 UTC]

yeah, but only if you have a lot of free time! So make a color layer?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SilverCoils In reply to Dahdtoudi [2005-07-03 19:14:27 +0000 UTC]

I went looking for a piece of lineart I could use for a tutorial... but I don't have any If you happen to have any lineart I could use, I'd be happy to give you the credits in the tut!

That's how my dreams start out, except they always end with Bulma covered in mustard, screaming, and me being attacked by a giant-squid.

It's a great piece of art.
