Description I never really thought that I will be watching anime, but recently I started stumbling upon Sword Art Online very much and decided to check it out. Got to say, I was pleasantly surprised. After that I wanted to watch another one and asked my sister, who has watched plenty of anime in the past, for something interesting. Without much thought she suggested Death Note. I finished it in two days, so I don't think I need to tell you if I enjoyed it or not.
Anyway, this is the main character from Death Note and even though he could be called a bad guy, I really like him.
Oh and of course in the background (if it could really be called that) there's Ryuk, the apple loving god of death.

The soundtrack for the anime was pretty good as well. Here's Light's Theme .

Not sure about another Light, but Misa is already in my "to draw" list, I just don't know when I'll actually get to the drawing part.

Oh, I have a pretty decent list of things I want to draw, a lot of them I have even started drawing. There's just so many other things I want or have to do and when I finally have the time to draw, I don't feel like doing it anymore.

But perhaps you have any suggestions that I should add to my list?

Haha, I guess a lot of people can claim the same.

Well, I was planning to do L and Misa from Death Note, not sure when that is going to happen though.
Technically I already did L , but I want to draw him with pencil as well.
Ah yes, I think I promised to draw Ezio for you, didn't I? He is on my list too.

I guess I'll have to watch it now. My friend has been bothering me for a couple of weeks now, telling me to watch Code Geass.

Yeah, not very long ago, loved it. In fact I am currently reading a Code Geass fanfic called Dauntless.
Here's a link if you are interested: www.fanfiction.net/s/6175861/1… A very well written what if scenario in my opinion.
And I am waiting for the next part of the anime Code Geass - Akito The Exiled.

i'll add it to my list to reads, but i have a ton! maybe in my free time when i get in the mood

i need to rewatch and catch up on Akito the Exiled. i didn't watch the third one when it released due to business. how many parts are there gonna be?

Haha, I don't even want to think about how huge my books and anime list is. But yeah, no rush. These things are best enjoyed when you are in the correct mood.

Initially they planned for 4 parts, but decided to do 5. Which is fine by me, because I like the Code Geass world. There's a nice amount of cameo character screen time in the 3rd one, more specifically Julius Kingsley. Though it is quite sad to see what has become of him.

lol me either. yes i really like the code geass world too, it's just so beautiful even though they're so destructive to it. like very destructive. lol maybe that made it beautiful? i especially love the music though... gives me feels, that very last song.
i don't remember julius kingsley. /looks up l-lulucrycry

Haha, yeah that could be it, at least partly.
One of the things that makes Code Geass very enjoyable for me is that whole empire building theme that's going on. Like how Lelouch only has CC in the beginning and then slowly starts building up his Black Knights.

Do you mean the one in the ending of Akito The Exiled? More Than Words by Maaya Sakamoto?

He has some awesome moments as Julius too and thanks to season 2 of Code Geass, we know that he will come out of it.

yess the empire building is so fun and cool <3

no not that 'cause i haven't watched anything after the movie's second one (sequel). i'm talking about the original anime, R2's ending song as CC was lying in the cart full of hay and talking.

Yay! A kindred spirit.
You know any other anime like that at the top of your head?

If you wathced any of the new ones (about Akito), then it's the same all the time:

Love the slow quiet parts with the violin, like in the very beginning.

Ah, are you talking about Continued Story?

Speaking of which, how did you interpret the ending? I have heard of 3 different versions.

My personal favourites from Lelouch Of Rebellion were Black Knights and Previous Notice

How far did you get? If you liked it so far, I'd strongly recommend that you finish it.
I am not sure if there are any differences in anime and manga, but personally I really enjoyed the anime.

My sister told me in this particular case anime is almost the same as manga when it comes to the visuals and story itself, but I prefer reading, especially since animation quality isn't the best one. I'm used to watching Disney 24 fps
I don't want to spoil the story to someone who might be reading this comment before finishing... I'll just say that chocolate-eating blond guy appeared.

Don't know about the story, but visually I checked and it's the same. As for the animation quality, I guess it depends what you compare it to. Death Note started in October 2006 and compared to Sword Art Online (2013), it still looks great.
Ah, Mello. The way he bit the chocolate, I was afraid he might break his teeth.

I compare it to western animated movied... so the expected quality is very high. But I in general consider anime/manga crappy... I don't think I'll ever change my mind.

There is a chance that you will change your mind. Until recently, I seriously hated everything anime related, I mean the art style not just the Japanese "cartoons". Then SAO happened and I decided to dig a little bit deeper.

I still disagree... It's not something I'm proud of, but I'm quite an anime/manga hater.

And yet you still read Death Note.
Well, it is your right to hate anime and manga. Whether it will remain so or not, is something that we shall see in the future.

My sister convinced me to do so... and Death Note is quite close to realism, compared to other mangas. Which doesn't mean it didn't annoy me.

You have quite an evil sister there, forced you to do something you don't like.
If there is something my sister and I disagree upon, it usually ends in a stalemate without any of us getting the wanted result.
So we tend to just drop the topic if it seems like an argument is going to happen and move on to something we both like.

I see. So if you can help it, you prefer things that are close to realism?

It's quite a tricky matter, because I love exaggeration. But manga is, according to my taste, ugly and repetitive.

Dahgnear In reply to kupieckorzenny [2014-04-13 11:51:06 +0000 UTC]

I don't have much to compare it to, I haven't even really read the manga, but what I personally really like about Death Note is that the main character is a "bad" guy. I haven't seen that done in books or anywhere else much (maybe I am just reading the wrong ones), but I like that approach and I usually end up being sympathetic with them.
