Critique forΒ Β young-photo-club Β :Β
I love how the windmill stands out so clearly from the background. The contrast between the dark windmill really draws attention. The cat in the lower left corner is a bit harder to find right away, but I feel that it almost looks like the cat is stalking the windmill through the tall grass ^_^. In my opinion, it is sometimes hard to pull of a black and white photo but you do it so effortlessly! Very beautiful and calming ^_^ I really love this photo~

The place where the picture was taken is very picturesque, especially on a clear summer evening. That cat was pretty calm too, hehe! Thank you for your kind words!

Saw this on the young-photo-club request for critique page and had to come take a look.
I didn't see the the cat until I looked at the full image.Β The subject of the photograph is not the silhouetted windmill but the cat looking out over the meadow and sea.Β I suppose the cat might be looking back toward the photographer, but that's not what it feels like to me.Β Such is the mystery of silhouettes.Β Two guardians standing still and silent.
The corner to corner composition are superb, as are the black and white and the lighting.Β It is an image of peace, a time to stop and reflect on the long view.Β The perfectly level horizon and perfectly aligned blades stand in contrast to the randomness of the grass and water.
Very well done.
Blessings,
Steve

The subject is indeed the loneliness of the cat in the meadow caught at sunset (not visible due to the black and white editing). And I don't want to spoil the mystery but it has been some time ago I took it so this photo is playing games even with my memory as to which way the cat was facing. The subjectivity in the first part of your comment is as important as the objectivity in the second part. Thank you for taking the time to critique my work!
