In the wild they are almost extinct due to loss of habitat and so forth. Also one of the world's most endangered crocodilian species.

India also according to the Guinness Book of World Records has the world's largest living saltwater crocodile at 23 feet long in one of the national parks, in Bhitarkanika National Park in Odisha to be more exact, and it's also unique in that 10% of the salties living there exceed 6 meters in length.
