unfortunately, humans are religious by nature. Β
it's a part of our DNA. Β
What we look to as the authoritative power governing our lives is up to us.
That is our religion, even if you say you are your own god, then just being in that foxhole...
I think you can fill in the rest.

WARNING! Carry on reading! Or you will die, even if you only looked at the word warning!
Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental
hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the
staff in the hospital so the More-government decided thatΒ best ideaΒ was to get rid of her so
they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the
machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died.
Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on
a Monday night at 12:00 a.m. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you
and watching you bleed to death. Now send this to ten other pictures on this one site, and
she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if you copy and paste
this to ten comments in the next ten minutes you will have the best day of your life tomorrow. You
will either get kissed or asked out, if you break this chain u will see a little dead girl in you

The best one is BARTELBY AND THE DIABOLICAL FESTIVITIES.

You vehemently oppose established powers...you are fanatically committed to your interpretation of the truth...you demand the end to the establishments you oppose...you spend all your time ranting against those with differing beliefs...hmmm, where have I seen this before?

I find it pitying that religious people are evolved enough to question our existence, but still are not evolved enough to answer hard questions.

I know! Yourself! I mean, you do oppose the right to remove clumps of tissue when they can end lives, have supported the genocide of those who disagree with you and have impersonated a dead folk singer, you're a real saint, aren't you!?

Oh, I'm sorry, did you talk back? Again? You know, I don't want to suffer you, but I don't want the world to either. So I'll be answering your first comments only from now on. You can't defend yourself anymore, and don't bother responding to this comment either, no matter what, you won't get a reaction.

There ain't no gods in my foxhole cause I killed them off. The idea of a god is completely bogus! When I die I die. My body falls into natures hands. and after some time I just biodegrade. So hey at least I'm helping nature in the end when I die.

no brains in your foxhole either. DEIFICATION IS A FACT - Christ makes gods before physical demise [John X:34-35] PS time you put the blocks up, innit?

I have friends who have become gods. This is normative in Eastern Orthodox Christology via Trinitarian access: see Vladimir Lossky: The Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church. Just because you don't know about deification doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

There's irony of the claim that there are "No atheists in the foxholes." The reasoning behind the quote is that during distress, especially if it's life-threatening, there's the inclination to turn to a "higher power." Who more likely to be thinking straight: the one who's desperate for a way to survive impending death, or the one who can calmly and rationally analyze both sides?

You'd need a good education + high intelligence + a working knowledge of Sumerian/Akkadian-Babylonian/Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek/Arabic etc to get into the Tanakh [Old Testament] & New Testament - then you can make a judgment about how crap the Bible is [notice atheists are never that well educated]

Jim Al-Khalili
Francois Arago
Sir Patrick Bateson FRS
Richard Dawkins
Jean Baptiste Delambre
That's just to name a few. All of them are far more educated then you, and they're atheists.
Have a good day!

Well, isn't religious militants one of the reasons that one should be athiest? If one is a militant athiest, than you're as bad as a religious militant. At least, that's my train of thought.
π: 0 β©: 2
DailyAtheist In reply to MisterNobodyY99 [2011-04-09 16:50:04 +0000 UTC]
One shouldn't be an atheist because of militant theists. One should be an atheist because there's no evidence for gods.
Aside from that, I regard "Militant atheism" as a bit of theist slander really. I mean, "militant atheism" seems to be to write books and argue for a cause - which is a completely democratic thing to do. Quite unlike strapping bombs to your chest or waving guns at people.
