Description A rather shoddy picture of my newly-created polonaise gown. I apologize about the odd angle/ lack of views, but it was the only one that came in focus. There will be more soon. I'm already starting on my hair for it.
The bodice/overskirt is made of blue/yellow changing silk. (It's woven blue one way, and yellow the other way.) The petticoat is made of gold silk taffeta embroidered all over with a floral vine.
I got the hat from Colonial Williamsburg. (Best place ever!)
The pattern was pretty straight-forward and fairly easy. (It was also gotten in Williamsburg.) I'm working on a pair of matching mitts, and after that come matching stockings!
This was taken in my house. I'm in the entry hall looking into the dining room which is opening to the kitchen. Now that you know the floor-plan of my house... hehe.
Don't tell any serious costumers/reenacters, but in this picture, I'm actually wearing a Victorian corset under it. I know! Blasphemy! It kind of makes the bodice ride up, but not too badly.
I had to fix the neckline to make the shoulders narrower because I'm not a man.
It has four bows down the center front of the bodice, and the neckline is trimmed with ribbon roses.

I love your house !! a typical old style Georgian house ! Did you get it like that or you did the modification, so it look like that ?

beautiful picture : ) I think it's better than those where people just stand realy apathetic showing of their dresses. This picture have more of a story to it. And the dress is nice too ^^

It doesn't look to bad a shot-could do with being a tad bit sharper, maybe, but it's not dreadful Plus, the setting makes it look as though she could be standing in a Georgian house

Haha, that was the only picture that was even remotely in focus. (One of the reasons I hate the timer.)

Shockingly enough, I didn't even notice the wrong corset. From the back, it doesnt show. Absolutely fabolous picture! And I love the fabric of your skirt.

it's beautiful! the dress and the photo both. it's a piece of art, not just a documentation of the dress. the photo showcases the dress in fact. though it could be rotated 1 degree to the left and the white at the top cropped out.....

if anyone gives you crap about anachromisms (lightswitches and painting of a 19th century girl just for the ref) kick them in the shins.

Haha! Yeah, the lightswitches drive me crazy!. (Also, the stove through the kitchen door.)

Oh, wow! This is beautiful! Great work.

Quick question: Do you live in that house? It's gorgeous. I'm entirely envious if you do.

Yeah, that's my house. But this picture only shows its good sides. It has its trashy parts too.
