5. Monster Whale

-While Ryoko teaches Daiji the ways of modern life, the monster Cetatyrannus hunts the seas.

Summary:

Since his rebirth, Daiji had been adapting well to the new Japan thanks to Ryoko. The two join a club that consists of Tatsuya, Katsura, Erumu, and Genji. Led by Genji, it is a monster conspiracy club that suggests that there are more giant monsters out in the world, and have influenced many mythologies. Meanwhile, in Hokkaido, a nuclear submarine disappears suddenly. The recording traces the attack to a prehistoric killer whale called Cetatyrannus. This prompts the Japanese army, led by a released Clayton and Eiko, to attack the whale with depth charges. However, this provokes Cetatyrannus to make landfall into Sapporo.

The club summons Nikkugon, who nearly succeeds in defeating Cetatyrannus, until the sea monster takes the battle underwater where it is in its element. Cetatyrannus incapacitates Nikkugon by spraying it with boiling water. As the monster lies defeated, Daiji reveals that Nikkugon is a god of fire, and grows stronger around hot regions or fire, and weaker around colder regions. Realizing this, Clayton devises a plan to defeat Cetatyrannus to make up for his past crimes. His forces lure the orca monster to an iceberg in the Bering Sea, where they bomb it and bury the beast alive. Ryoko thanks Clayton, who warns the club that if Nikkugon does anything rash, he won't hesitate to act...
