You write novels. So do I. I have them piled up all over the place- in books at home, and on my laptop. I have no idea what to do with them.

LOL you should start editing them, and polishing them and start submitting them to printers to get exposure.

Both. Printers will charge you to print, and you'll self-publish.

Hmm... how do you go about self-publishing? I tried getting research on all this done before but my mom wasnt very encouraging about it at all and I just gave it up, then when I did she started pushing me and I ddnt bother letting her

DamonVonBohn In reply to SisstreDaethe [2008-10-31 23:08:05 +0000 UTC]
Well, if you have the money to invest in self publishing, then I suggest you first hire an editor. They are usually on the up and up, and help you putting your book in the right genre, and help you by explaining to you what needs to be changed, or edited, or what doesn't make sense and all that, and then, after they edit your book, then you can submit it as a print-ready file to a printer. You might have to do a LOT of research on this.

Or I can use YOU. Lol. I guess I should save my publishing era for when I leave school because right now I don't have money for all that. Right now, I guess I'll just find my old work, polish it like you said and finish all the new ones I started

I don't think I ever have actually. Not in a real book. My best friend and I had a little play-thing we used to pass between each other, but that was just a play-thing. Nothing I ever intended on publishing. It was a book with a means- indulging in fantasies to escape our family problems. Once the problems got less intense- my parents finally separated and hers did, too- then gradually the book began to lose its purpose.

I think I used to write because I really liked the idea of being able to manipulate other's lives. We did indeed decide we were writing a book, though we had no idea of the plot. That developed through the years, and as we grew older, we erased some things, and re wrote others... The beginning has been rewritten like five times....I mean, We have the book in our heads; it's just the idea of putting it down on paper...

I began writing to escape reality. My writing got more personal because I loved the idea of having so much control over my OWN life. Like a written daydream. We, too, erased some things and rewrote our book. This is the third version we've gotten to.

LOL. I'm mixed, so I've had a lot of "racial issues". I've never really decided on what to call myself. I feel racist when I say black because I'm also Irish, Indian, English and Scottish- so I'm lost. So in the first one I was Sharima Gormez (I rejected all my races for a Spanish one- lol)- the Goth rock star with a not so perfect life and my best friend was in another band- her name was Jordan. Then we dumped that book and I became Alexis Chateaux (chateaux being a 'french spelling' of the indian name shatoo- which is my family's birth name though it was changed after someone got adopted) My best friend became Ali King. Then we died and reincarnated and then we dumped the book and now there's Lei-Kasha (me) and Aithne (her)- lol. In this one we're twins. Our dad is white and our mother is african. hahahaha- it never ends...

haha! If I sat and decided to let my ethnicity tell me who I am for fear of being who I am, I would go crazy. I think your heritage shouldn't dictate any type of rule. To me, my heritage (Spanish, Native Mexican and French) are but a circumstance to my life, and that's how everyone else takes it. I just happen to be these things.

I know! But sometimes it's good to be able to call yourself SOMETHING. I guess it all jut goes back to the typical human need to belong to something greater than ourselves.

How about you're an artist? Who can claim to be any one thing these days, anyway? I rather enjoy being a mixture. My husband is a "Euro Mutt" whose ancestry (only about 4 generations ago) vary from German to Greek, and Hungarian, British, French and Canadian. He's all of these, it's like each grandparent came from a different place. It's great!

My claim to be an artist is usually refuted by people who either think or know they can do what I've done better because they've been doing it for longer. Or they've been taught rather than figuring it out for themselves, like me. You're husband? Hmmm... you've lost me now. I've always assumed you were male because you have my boyfriend's name
