Description I have an infatuation with Zaknafein Do'Urden. He is handsome, capable, and an intelligent drow male. He taught Drizzt mostly everything he knows about fighting. The rest came with practice. But Zak, his big heart and well endowed body did indeed land him a good position with Matron Malice....and now, about his bloodline...Are Malice and Zak brother and sister?

Pencils (about three hours. 15 minutes at a time over a period of a month) It is mainly a self-imposed excercise with textures.

Me too! Drizzt was brave; but he ran away. Zak was braver because he remained to live within the system he knew.

Well, Malice 'was' a horrible person lol. It's a requirement of being a Matron Mother . She only cared for her own personal gain. Her children or other relatives were only considered useful. When their use wained, they became expendable!

true; that's why I wouldn't put it beyond her to enslave her sibling. I"m glad that's not the case.

Tbh, even if he were, it's hardly uncommon . It's all throughout both Egyptian and Norsk mythologies for a start lol.

But no, I asked my wife, she agree's. We both think that Zak started out as a Drow Warrior who became Malice's mate, then due to his prowess with the blades, he became weapons master.

Hmm; I don't remember how the logic went in my head. I think it had to do with their mother having seven kids or somesuch and they only accounted for a few, or he was secondboy something . I'll have to re read it.

I am re-reading atm. Not read it since high school about 15 years back lol. Love the book, but Salvatores tendancy to called Drizzt by his name at EVERY opportunity gets a little annoying. Rarely is it 'he attacked the kobold', but it's more like 'Drizzt unsheathed Drizzt's scimitars. The Kobold saw Drizzt and Drizzt attacked it with Drizzt's scimitars'.

Ok, that may be a slight exaggeration lol, but still!

Hahaha; well, to his credit, he wasn't a writer before he started. He was still getting his craft down at the time. Still managed to make a compelling tale, though!

True that lol. I do find all authors have very different, but very irritating habits! All Games Workshop Black Library books have awful grammar, Feist is particularly bad with 'he said this, then he said that' with no variation other than he/she said lol. Etc etc.

I guess that parts also due to the editors.

Very nice piece of art.

However, no. Zak and Malice were not siblings. I believe it mentions in Homeland that Zaknafein was elevated to the position of mate centuries ago, but unlike most of the others, his prowess with a blade landed him a placement as weapon master, so he was not executed like the rest.

Good! i was always sort of disturbed by it, how it was worded, I think. Cuz if it was, then Malice was a horrible horrible person, especially since he couldn't do anything about it.

Perhaps not, I mean, it seriously could be a prequel to The Dark Elf trilogy, instead of a next book in a series.

Good work and great attention to shadding and detail. Just not exactly what I imagined when I read the Dark Elf Trilogy. *shrugs* But everyone has a different perspective, so if you like it, then awesome! My opinion is irralivant and I like your depiction just the same. Again, good work.

trilogy...Never got past it because I am missing a lot of books, like The Halfling’s Gem. *Shakes
head* Sad...Ah well. So to get to the point of my rambling, I haven’t read those books yet.

aww, that's a big bummer. You should go get the paperbacks. If you're able to shop online i'm sure you'll find them on amazon or something. [link]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

IndigoWereWolf In reply to DamonVonBohn [2006-07-14 22:10:45 +0000 UTC]

No, we don't shop online in this house. We just keep our eyes open for when a bargain shows itself! But I can't wait to get the books, though the later ones have me a bit weary. My mom read alot of them, and so did my dad, and the characters get butchered later on. Their personalities are nothing like they were, and thats sad, since their perfect the way they were in the beginning. But thats my opinion.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DamonVonBohn In reply to IndigoWereWolf [2006-07-16 08:27:51 +0000 UTC]

Well, you know. Salvatore is trapped between the will of the fans and the will of the corporation that owns his soul. Somewhere in the midst, he gets to put things he likes.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

IndigoWereWolf In reply to DamonVonBohn [2006-07-17 04:37:59 +0000 UTC]

Still...Its just not for me. I just don't like a great character being transformed into something flawed, when they were perfectly fine how they were. But I can also understand the pressure. Like I had said, its only my opinion, I'm not coming against Salvatore or anything, just voicing my own thoughts. I hate to argue.

While I highly doubt that Malice and Zak are related blood-wise, they sure do have an odd relationship--if you could call it that. And you drew him better than he was drawn in the comic. Smoochies!!! tralala
