Description Oh God, I finished reading this book a few days ago, and I'm still reeling emotionally, especially from all my feelings about ROBERT Goddamn FROBISHER. He was a selfish, careening timebomb of a man and I adored him. He and Sonmi's sections were my favorites; I disliked Zachry's so much that I nearly didn't include him but decided to once I finished the book and reflected upon how it all fit together. This book is truly a masterpiece, and I'm astonished by David Mitchell's skill as a writer and storyteller.

Haven't seen the film yet. I want to, but at the same time I'm one of those people who remembers everything from a book and notices when films change the slightest little thing, and I'm sulking over their casting of Hae-Joo (I GET what the filmmakers were going for, but...Jim Sturgess, really?)

Beutiful! It really is! I was looking for a Cloud Atlas fanart not based on the movie, and this is satisfying. The portreyal of each of the characters is nothign like the movie, and yet so accurate. It's good to see how other people see them without seeing the movie

This is absolutely amazing. You really captured everyone's personalities really well. I love how the clouds are a different style for each time period. And maybe it's just me, but I think Zachry looks like an older version of Sokka from Avatar. Fantastic work!

Really? You disliked Zachry's story? In the movie, I thought it was probably the best or second-best one. But I might just be biased because Old Georgie is so awesome.

To address your concerns about the film - To be honest, the movie is a lot different from the book, but it's different because it had to be to work as a film. The story structure is different, in that it bounces back and forth between time periods constantly, rather than telling the stories in order and then working backwards, but I think it wouldn't have worked as a movie if they had done it in the same way as the book. But I don't think anything in the six stories was changed significantly...at least, nothing important. I might not be the best reference, since I haven't actually read the book, but David Mitchell said he loved the movie, so I wouldn't worry about it. Even standing alone, the movie was one of the most incredible, emotionally moving films I've ever seen. I've seen it 5 times and I cried all 5. Definitely watch it; you won't regret it.

Oh, and don't worry about Jim Sturgess as Hae-Joo; he does a fantastic job.

Thank you so much for the kind words!

Oy, I had so many books written in dialect forced upon me while in high school, I've hated them ever since. That's part of why I didn't like Zachry's part

I guess I'll have to check it out, then! I feel better knowing the author approves. I'll probably sob my eyes out, though, haha.

No problem!

Oh, yeah, those aren't fun...

Wait a sec. I checked your profile to look at some of your other work (which is amazing, by the way). You live in China? Then don't see it. The Chinese government cut over 40 minutes from the movie, to the point where the story no longer makes sense. Lana Wachowski actually encouraged people to pirate the original rather than see the Chinese version.

Thanks!
Ah, I should update that, I don't live there anymore (States-side, now!) And to be honest, when I did, I mostly bought bootleg DVDs because they were bajillion times cheaper than going to the theater. 40 mins though, damn. I wouldn't have expected it to be a movie they'd take offense to. Do you know what they cut?

Oh, well good then!
They cut out anything that related to love or sex for being "too passionate" or something. They cut a bunch of other stuff too, but I don't know about the rest.

This is a really good one! You really catched the character's spirit in this drawing

I love how Timothy looks in your style and I like all the different types of clouds you drew in the background <3
