Description First shot from the (many) I got from the Town Hall competition! This also happened to be one of my favourites from the day.

This shot was from a New Vogue category (level 3 or 4 youth, from memory). Though it's a black and white photo, the girl's dress was the most incredible set of colours on elegant black. Probably my favourite costume from the whole day, actually.

i really like the grain in this photograph, it adds a vintage feel to it, especially for it photographing a somewhat vintage event. i like how it creates the feel that you really could be in a time 80 years from now, or something like that, no evidence of modernism. i also love that this is film, it's quite rare to find other film users here.

If my work is any help in convincing people to take up the sport, then I've definately achieved what I set out to do, so thankyou for the comment

Wheeeeee she looks like a dragonfly!
With these cloths flying behind her, they could be the wings on her back.

Yeah, he had a wonderful way of emoting the dances when he was performing. It's always the thing that seperates the really good from great performances at the upper levels of competition - how the couple present and create emotion within the dance. It's also the thing that makes such great couples the best ones to photograph.

Awesome picture! Nice job getting them in the center of the frame, which I'm sure was hard, given that they were moving. Full view has quite a bit of noise, but it still very lovely.

Unfortunately noise is inevitable with the shots from this competition. The lighting at the hall wasn't exactly bright, and so it was flash or 800 ISO. I chose 800 ISO because to be honest I'd rather a photo with some grain than the overexposure flash can and often does create.
