I can think of 2 scenarios that could have led Blake to this instance being depicted here.

Scenario 1: At a young age, Blake's home town/village was attacked for its anti-imperial association. In the chaos of battle she is separated from her family who have gone missing or were killed. An imperial inquisitor or Sith Lord ,among the imperial forces, senses Blake's force potential and takes her in to be raised and trained as a new inquisitor/dark side adept. Because of her young age at the time of the event, she has vague memories at best as to what led her being raised in the empire. Years later, she learns the full details of the attack from either restricted imperial records or from the still living witness. Realizing she has been lied to and used by the Empire for most of her life up to the revelation event, Blake begins her own personal war against the Empire

Scenario 2: Starts out with Blake in her late teens with a human father and faunus mother. Her mother was a former Jedi in the Old Republic who went into hiding at the end of the Clone Wars and took on a new identity some time before meeting up with Blake's future father. Wanting to keep some semblance of Jedi tradition alive, Blake's mother gives her occasional lessons on The Force and Jedi teachings in the seclusion of their home. Both of Blake's parents are involved a local rebel cell and lend their support through information gathering and supply smuggling. Blake is kept in the dark about such activity for her safety and her parents wanting her to reach the age of young adult before giving her the choice becoming more included with the local rebellion or not. Before her parents can let Blake in on their secret, the Empire does it for them when Imperial Intelligence cracks-down on the local cell resulting in the capture of the entire family. During a break out attempt, Blake's parents sacrifice themselves to ensure their daughter's escape from imperial clutches. Blake's mom in particular holding off an Inquisitor just long enough for the escape ship to get well away.

Considered guilty by association, Blake is on the run from the Empire's authorities and hides out in the slums on another planet. In a new place with no friends or family to go to for help she is forced to take up thievery in order to survive day to day. Her talents in The Force and faunus traits allow Blake to excel at breaking and entering to abscond with items of value. She builds a reputation in the criminal underworld as a professional cat-burglar. (no pun intended) Besides taking on the occasional job of snatching something valuable from a son-of-a-hutt's mansion, Blake goes out of her way to help those in need. Taking food stuffs and medical supplies from imperial outposts and storehouses and then providing them to those most in need of them serves also as a means of getting back at the Empire in a small way.

This routine continues for sometime until the night she makes off with something extra from a Hutt Cartel member's exotic collection during her latest contracted heist. The pyramid shaped artifact emanated a strange power and pulsing light that seemed to call to Blake. Wishing her to take it with her. Later, Blake's force sensitivity allows her activate the object which projected a 3D Hologram of a being who was of a species she was not at all familiar with. Blake was astounded at just how life like the hologram was with it being able to hold a conversation with her as if an actually living person was with her in the room. The figure introduced itself as a Sith Lord from long ago and offered teach her all of the knowledge of the dark side of the Force stored within the holocron. Blake became very wary of the holocron's offer and ceased her interactions with it. She recalled one private lessons with her mother in which she warned Blake that those who called themselves were not to be trust and the dark side was to be avoided. The faunus contemplated selling the holocron or throwing it in the nearest trash compactor. That is until a certain shadow from her past began making himself known in her area along with renewed brutal raids and arrests on anyone suspected rebels or rebel sympathizers. "Someone has to begin his reign of terror to end." Blake thought but she did not feel ready to take on the Inquisitor. "I need to know my enemy in order to defeat my enemy." and "I need to know more about about the dark side in order to combat it." were among her thoughts when she summoned the hologram once again from its device. Over the next few months, Blake delved through the holocron's knowledge. She learned new Force techniques and even how to construct her first lightsaber. The faunus stopped taking on any contracts so as to devote more time to the holocron's instruction. She still carried out mercy missions for the poor but even those activities were becoming fewer and farther between as she focused on increasing her combat strength. The faunus warrior eventually began raiding imperial outposts and facilities, testing new abilities and glowing sabers. Each raid being more bold and devastating than that last. All while also seeking to draw the attention of the one person she wanted to meet. The one who took the life of her mother and ruined the once peaceful life Blake and so many others once had.


Wow! I put a lot of thought into that second scenario.  


It adds some interesting dialog to this comment section at the very least.
