Ahaha thank you so much for this! I actually follow these lines myself and so far I've been pretty pleased with my characters.
I find it's also a pretty good idea (in my case) to design the aesthetics of your character after you've patted their backstory and traits down flat. A lot of people when making OCs would slap lazy backstory and traits onto their character if they've already got the aesthetics down.
Anyways- enough of my ranting ahaha. Thanks a bunch for this- it was a nice refresher for me, and probably a very good tutorial for people who are less... confident? In their OC making.

This is a good Gide I find it takes me a couple of months for me to finish an oc most of it is changing and fixing parts in a story it took me 3 years to be happy with my one oc. She used to be a Mary Sue but know I don't think she is. I know a bunch of people that could use this.

That's all fine and dandy, but sometimes you try so hard to make a believable character with good qualities and balanced flaws, but people STILL criticize. I'm deathly afraid my FNAF OC, who I worked hard on, will be persecuted just because her outfit is a bright pink dress and her "show" attitude is bright and bubbly. But the reason for that is because she's an animatronic who was built to attract the attention of children, and that's done by using bright colors.
honestly, you can be as close to realism as you can get, and you'll still get backlash. We can try to be people pleasers, but that does not work. In the end, shouldn't it just be ourselves and our own personal opinions that matter? Because everyone will have a different interpretation and everyone will either like or dislike it. There's no "correct" way to do something, because everyone's sight is different. Everyone will look for different things in OCs, and some people don't even like OC's at all.

This isnt about pleasing others. This is about creating a good writing character c:
This is for those that have an OC and want to make them better. Dont follow these rules if you dont want to. It's not like I'm breaking your wrists over them.
This is a learning opportunity for people to better themselves when it comes to creating characters or OC's. If you choose not to learn, then do what you please. Free country, eh? And it's also a free country to learn and share with one another.

You're absolutely right.
I do follow these rules as best as I can with every creation I have, but I feel like I get trouble with feedback. Feedback is very important to me so I can learn better, but like I said, people have different opinions, and this is where it becomes tricky and frustrating.

The problem with that is you're taking in feedback and doing things according to people's opinions
Dont follow opinions, go online and do research hand go on facts. All the above tips are not my opinions, they are real facts from other guides to help create a better character.
P.S. People leave negative feedback because they are sometimes jealous.
