My roommate JT saw some of my recent work and commissioned me to do one of his favorite H.P. Lovecraft monsters. Pencil and ink on plain paper. The scan doesn't really do it justice
"The great race is named so because it conquered time. It developed the ability to send minds across eons to take over the bodies of other beings. This creature has a large conical body topped by four long tentacles ending in a variety of usefal organs. It is intellegent and long lived. One might think of the race as so many placid monks, were he or she to ignore the species' genocidal invasions and ferocious earthly wars."

Nice work, great job on the shading and it does look ver suitably Lovecraftian.
The face on the one tentacle is quite disturbing to - it make me think of Sesame Street or the Muppets for some reason.

If you say the scan doesn't do it justice, I'd love to see exactly what you mean. This is pretty darn amazing, if you ask me. I don't know a thing about H.P. Lovecraft, to be perfect honest, but I can't help but be impressed by this all the same. Superb work!
