I've never seen a real Spitfire as of current. The closest I've been is a replica being built at the Air Force Museum in Port Elizabeth.

Not wishing to rub it in, but I have been fortunate enough to see over forty different airworthy examples in my time attending airshows, and many more musuem examples. Being of British design, it is understandable why the majority of flyable examples live here in the UK. In fact six examples are still operated by the Royal Air Force and the one above is one of those.

I haven't got a photo of the replica sorry to say, but I do have a shot from inside its cockpit. The last I visited was in 2014, and its was busy being prepped for paint, and the wings and propeller had not been attached yet, but the people working on the build were nice enough to let me sit in the cockpit (Even though they were busy in the process of pumping the tyres on the landing gear, which was already attached.), and I was able to get this shot.
