Looking forward to seeing the Spitfires at the theater in "Dunkirk" this year. Β Hope the full movie lives up to the previews I've seen!

You will see this very machine, as she was one of the trio that flew as part of the filming. She was painted up like this for the filming however.

Most awesome, so glad they will not be using CGI for these iconic aircraft!

You wouldn't be the only one there, I myself also started with the venerable old Airfix 1:72 Spitfire Mk.Ia. The kit may have now been replaced by newer toolings, and that is for the greater modelling good, but I'll always have a soft spot for those the earlier kits. Particularly the box art.

I always loved the art on those model kits .Something I had forgotten ......

Yeah, I believe it was the Airfix kit I had as well, though I won't say for certain; I was quite young at the time. But it was 1:72 scale, so yeah, might've been the very same kit. Β

Not really into modelling kits anymore, but it's my younger brother's main hobby.

The Spitfire MK1a will always have a special place in my heart, though. :3

Ah the smell of gas as your engine chokes during a negative G maneuver, *sniff * those were the days (Bf 109 diving in background)
