I was thinking the other day how much fun it would be to have a WWII photo reconnaissance warbird.  I could put in a modern camera and take awesome aerial photos.  But that would be one expensive camera.

Lovely.
She went off early on Friday came back taxied towards me and right past me up to the ARCO end.
I was in the perfect position and promptly went the wrong way with my shutter speed. I mean, how the hell do you do that!?
I have some nice pics with a frozen prop with easily distinguishable prop logo/emblems

Hey, some photographers don't even think about their shutter speeds at all, so you are already doing better than some. It happens to the best of us, I've on several occasions shot for hours on aperture priority because I've neglected to change my settings back after a jet or something similar. I always try to style it out when I've done that, only upload images that I have shot in profile, as you don't see as much motion in the prop in profile. The below image being a good example of that. Shot at 1/250 but regardless of the slow shutter speed, you can still see the prop logos and the blades not as a blur.

Nice image that too

Not having a wonderful time with the new body I must admit.
Seems to be taking endless tweaking and getting used.
